No damage on the plug and everything looked decent at least from up top, who knows, might be back tomorrow with a “how do I rip out the motor” question.
You hit the nail on the head, cylinder #1 had a pushrod that was a nice banana shape, threw new pushrods in it and seems to be back to normal, I’ll put some miles through it to confirm there isn’t damage to the head. Thank you all very much the amount of support for my admittedly basic issue is...
Good call, found this, I’m assuming this is plenty bent to cause an issue? And what’re my next steps? This is the only pushrod that was bent, is there a chance I can put a fresh pushrod in and she’s fine or there’s definitely valve damage?
Yes sir, same issue with either fuel system, splits/ backfires every revolution, just to double check before I pull the valve covers is it possible that there’s a timing issue?
No problem and thank you again,
Heard it run and drove it approximately 4 months ago on the carburetor, ran smooth with no issues, I know between now and then nothing has been done to the car as it was in storage and it’s from family.
Pulled it out and began having the issue as shown in the...
Sounds good, sounds like next step is to pull the valve covers, just did another check of the plug wires to make sure I’m not losing it and they’re run correctly.
Not sure which cylinder, could be a dumb question but is there a common way to determine which cylinder? Definitely looks like it’s spitting on only 1 cylinder every rotation
Yep ran fine about 4 months ago, no changes or new components just started doing the misfires in the video, to me sounds like a misfire on 1 cylinder every rotation but not sure as to what could cause it. I saw it running perfectly prior to the issue.
I did one at a time, pulling one wire and one plug each go, I was hoping there was an obvious plug/wire issue but no luck, the issue started prior to any plug/wire removal
Ignition components were my first thought as well, plugs are newer but I cleaned them just in case, would be be worth it to grab a new set of wires to remove that as a potential issue?
Thank for very much for the info, something weird happened with iCloud I changed the link to one that works, it’s is a 440 and what’s really stumping me is that it used to run fine then started having this issue, put a few thousand miles on it and ran smooth prior to this. Video should be good...
Hi Everyone, need some help diagnosing what’s going on here, essentially it sounds like a backfire but happens every motor rotation, not sure what’s really going on my first thought was timing but any help would really be appreciated. My background is electrical stuff but this has me stumped. I...
