I did not rebuild my shackles this year when I had my springs replaced. I got the springs and all mounting hardware from General Spring. The new shackles look just like the originals.
I am the 7th owner of my 1966 Coronet 440 so I don't know if my owner's packet is complete. It is in a two pocket plastic jacket and contains 3 items, the owner's guide, the advisory card for owners of vehicles built in California and this two-sided card with the service schedule....

I have an AutoMeter gauge and the standard dash gauge on my 66 Coronet with Slant 6. I have a 180 thermostat and the dash gauge reads just about straight up vertical in the lower part of the Normal range when the AutoMeter reads 180.
I put a set of Yokohamas on my RAV daily driver in 2021 just before a long driving trip from SC to NM and back. They now have 24K miles on them and have been very pleased. They are much quieter than the original tires on the car and they look hardly worn at 24K.
I just bought a set of new leaf springs for my 66 Coronet from General Spring. I went with the upgraded set over the stock set. I also purchased all new hardware from them (shackles, front bolts, U-bolts). The cost was about $500 plus $98 for shipping from KC to South Carolina. I'm satisfied...
I have the same problem. For now I'm not digging in deep enough to tap and put in a screw. So I added a simple surface mount SPST toggle switch under the left dash and actuate it myself until I fix it right someday.
I'm in the market for new dust caps for my 66 Coronet. The originals won't stay on. One is in there rattling right now coming home from yesterday's car show. I just ordered a pair from Ricks Mopars. Thanks!
My Slant 6 pan was always dripping ever so slightly when it had a copper crush washer on. The last time I had it out I put on a softish rubber washer that was maybe 1/8" thick and squashable. That seemed to do the trick. I just found it in my hardware box.
I'm looking to remove and clean up the top stainless trim piece on the back of my 66 Coronet 440 deck lid. It appears to be held on by two studs and nuts (at either end which you can see and handle easily) plus five plastic push pins of some kind. I can see a small white plastic push pin...
I left the bar in without the spring. Honestly, how much can it do anyway? It just sits there on the end of bar with no compression on it. It seems to me there is as much chance to rattle with the spring as without. I know it's heresy but just asking questions.
When I rebuilt my rear brakes last winter the spring on the left side broke and I didn't have a replacement. I thought I would just leave it out and see what happens. It seems fine to me. I have not noticed any noise or any rattles from the spring being missing. Maybe next time I have it...
