Related issue...just installed a freshly rebuilt 475 horse 440...motor was run on stand for cam break in...now in car idles and revs nicely...when test driven with a load on it....its seems to be short of fuel.. I put a new stock 440 manual pump ...which was on old engine with single 4...
Thank you ...all of you....i literally went into hibernation after finding out what happened. I am now i believe 30 days away from being back on the road...if i didnt already post this..while cruising along come to find out the cam gear bolt backed out and the chain broke and went into the oil...
That's interesting...yes ..on any rebuild I'm a gauge hawk...nothing was out of place on gauges...other than I've never been able to get gas to work..lol
You've all been great and I appreciate it !...I'm sure like most all of you...it takes time to solve issues due to ...mainly these vehicles being hobbies...not necessary for everyday driving. I will divulge this cars story over time. I've traveled from California to Iowa this week to visit...
I promise...there is so much more to this story..I'm new here...so I'm don't know if there's a format for longer stories...because this one gets stranger by the year
Thank you everyone...this vehicle is tasking me ...and I shall prevail..likely by dumping loads of money it... compression test first then likely complete teardown
Hello everyone...update on my dead roadrunner... remember it just quit going down the road ...we exhausted the electrical testing ...no luck. Then we decided we better pull distributor cap and crank it...sure enough distributor not spinning...first thought was cam broke or sheared pin...through...
Thank you for input...I hope to have a positive result within a week...I will be replacing the distributor....even though it's new... evidence points to it being culprit..thx guys
I will work on that firewall connector..if that doesn't work...my money is on the ecu cuz it's 16 years old and distributor is new...then I get my buddy on it...thank you for feedback
Changed the ballast resistor..no change. Checked and wiggled grounds and checked coil connections. Haven't done all the electrical testing yet cuz all I have is continuity tester lol..I do have a buddy who has all that and is an expert ... question...what I call the electronic ignition is from...
