    64 Plymouth Fury Alternator Question

Just did the test and you were right! Battery began charging. I will return the new alterbator and get a new voltage regulator. Are those ones on amazon any good? Or should I spring for the Blue Streak one? It's around $50. Thanks again Bob. And yes I picked up a shop manual a while back I...

    64 Plymouth Fury Alternator Question

Bob, that being said I'm interested to know about rebuilding an alternator if I can do it at home. I can always send the new alternator back whenever it arrives in the mail. Thanks

    64 Plymouth Fury Alternator Question

I grounded the field wiring coming from the voltage regulator at the negative post of the battery via a jumper wire and the alternator still failed to charge. My understanding is that the voltage regulator is essentially a switch that "opens" or creates a ground when the battery power drops...

    Replacing Master Cylinder

Thanks for the reply. Yeah a dual pot may have been the way to go in hindsight. I am going to be moving soon and may have to put the car up for sale, so I didn't want to get too in the weeds. Good tip. I will check frequently, along with all the other checks that I do obsessively! Have a good one!

    64 Plymouth Fury Alternator Question

Yeah I tested with a meter and I have battery voltage on the ignition side of the voltage regulator and no power at the field terminal on the alternator when key is in on position. I am no expert either but it leads me to believe it is a faulty voltage regulator. Thanks for the tip. I am try...

    64 Plymouth Fury Alternator Question

I have battery voltage at the positive terminal of the alternator however when I have the key in the on position I do not have any voltage at the field wire from the external voltage regulator. Does this indicate that it is just my voltage regulator? Hoping so because they are much cheaper than...

    Replacing Master Cylinder

Mission Accomplished. The extentions, uni adapters, and deep sockets did the job. 13mm. The old MC was in terrible shape and should not have been sold to me as is, very unsafe. I got the car from a shop in Ohio who said they had just done a "full brake job". They did put on new drums but didn't...

    Replacing Master Cylinder

I have heard this point/argument made as well. I would be interested to hear the arguments on both sides. I am keeping this car 100% stock, so for me it is less about better or worse, but about restoration.

You would go for the bolts connected to the master cylinder on the back? It's a tough spot to get to.

    /6 225 Starter Motor Recommendation

I am just fine with OEM; although the Hi-Torque starters are appealing, but pricey. https://slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=54380
