Okay - well at least I feel better - I thought I was a complete moron for awhile there... so the earlier panels (like what originally came w/ my car) had provisions for that 45 degree angled plate to fit then... My car was built March of '72. Either way, that's fine. The panels I'm using are...
Did I ask a super dumb question ? I mean, I'm pretty sure the bracket is for the driver's side but I can't put it in place where it looks like it should line up with the hand hold of the door panel. I am using different door panels, they didn't come with my particular car. Did some cars come...
I have this one bracket but can't remember which side it goes on
and also figure out how it orientates. I acquired different door panels
from an unknown car YEARS ago and they don't seem to have slots for the
metal hand part that sticks up. How the heck do these go
and am I supposed to have...
I am going to do something similar, kinda, for now by just painting the edge of the chrome plate black, hopefully giving the illusion of being lined up better.
Ron, the entire console was filthy with decades of crude and such, so I took the wood grain plate off to replace the grain with new material, I took off the black slider, the P-R-N-D-2-1 indicator, and the chrome shifter gate to clean and I painted the console and door.
Question: Shouldn't the...
Ron, like I said, I've owned the car since 1983 and it never seemed this "off" to me. Shop DK'd around with it in a hurry years back, can't even remember why, screwed up the plate, the alignment of the mechanism, AND broke the t-handle. Then the car sat. ETC ETC. Now I'm finally getting...
Really ??? I've owned the car since the early '80s and never noticed it until a few years back when it came back from a shop. I always thought it was straight and flush.
Trying to reassemble my center console and get rid of the left side bulge once and for all. It's not lining up properly no matter what. It skews toward the drivers' seat. Here is a pic showing everything mocked in place, but loose. I loosened every screw I can find but it won't budge into...
Hi YY1 - Yeah, I found some of that "new" plastic wipe stuff a bit earlier and it lasted about 2 minutes...
Sooooooo... I went ahead and shot it with Ace Premium Paint + Primer Black Satin and it looks a bit, okay, a lot, shinier than I'd like but it'll hopefully dull out over time. The car...
Quote:"I have seen using a heat gun to being back the shine to old plastic"
Hmmm, interesting. Although I'm leary of trying that for fear of screwing it up.
I was thinking more along the lines of wiping something on.
My center console is black and in excellent original condition.
No cracks or warps whatsoever...
It is just super dull, even after vigorous cleaning.
Any suggestions as to restore a nice "sheen" to it?
I am trying to avoid painting it with a satin black.
I have a 72 Plym with its original 318...
The engine has been rebuilt but neither the timing cover
nor the harmonic balancer was changed. The timing marks are clear and visible
(No gunk or residue in the mark)
Was trying to time the engine and the marks are no where to be "found" using two...
