Hi Rusty. The bracket I ordered was from classic industries. Not sure if they are the same on a 66 vs 72 but my part number was ACC4003. After looking up the part number looks like they fit up through 70. They do have other hangers listed for 72 chargers though. I’m not familiar enough with that...
Hi. Sorry I do not have the hood return. I’ll try and get a minute to get a look at the switch I have that is worn. Just finished up a transmission rebuild and hoping to put some miles on it over the weekend to make sure everything holds up like it should. Appreciate the heads up on the...
Finally got the last bolts in this project. Most of my leaks seemed to have cleared up after changing the pan gasket and cleaning up and resetting the valve cover on the driver side. Replaced a leaking freeze plug too in the back of motor on the drivers side. That was pretty nasty in there got...
Cool. Photos have been very helpful. I have the bracket showing in the mail today. Exhaust is all laid out and loosely clamped to stay in place. Hopefully get it in and tightened up in the next couple days. This was the last piece to get reassembled after pulling my transmission for an at home...
Cool thanks guys very helpful. I was wondering if self tappers would do the job temporarily. Wasn’t sure how much stress the hanger put on the body. Being somewhat vertical I’m guessing not as bad as it would be horizontal. Any recommendations on to the size of the self tappers? I’m assuming...
Thanks I’ll keep nosing around under there. I have the correct hanger for the side just didn’t order up the bracket in hopes that something sturdy would be close I could tie into. Since the bracket comes with the backing plate that bolts through to the interior I’m assuming this is putting quite...
Hi. I had a muffler shop bend me exhaust for duals on my charger with a 318 poly. When they did they didn’t bend the tail pipe enough and was getting some bumping on my suspension. I wasn’t happy with their work so wrote it off as a lesson learned, they are now out of business… so I’m not...
We have everything bolted back up just waiting on the new neutral safety switch which should be on my porch today. Hopefully get it on the jack tonight or tomorrow night and bolted back into the car. After I do a little work on the engine since I have it up in the air to take care of some leaks...
That is funny. I told my wife last night I’m pretty sure that stuff is just Vaseline. All of the cuts on my hands have pretty much disappeared. Very cool. I wish my case would have cleaned up that well. It is a complete 180 from what it was at the start of this. Made some progress today. I air...
My kit did come with the non fibre washer. This is the smaller washer correct? Just to make sure I’m calling parts by the right name. Thanks for the tip on the gasket. I’ve been adding assembly grease to most everything that looks to be metal to metal. I wouldn’t have thought to use it for glue too.
I didn’t notice any discoloring on the Belleville when cleaning how can I tell it is overheated? I’ve include the best pic I had from disassembly still pretty dirty in pic. Thanks much appreciated!
Thanks, luckily my Belleville seemed to check out okay. I have it reinstalled. Made some progress. Lots of cleaning and seals, gaskets and frictions/steels are all back in on the pump clutches. The thrust washer on my pump was not in the kit. So will be calling a local transmission guy here to...
Welp after a hot weekend glad to say we made some progress. I have the transmission out and torn down and found the seal that started this ordeal. Lots of pieces of it through out so next some heavy cleaning. Washer on the pump looked a little beat up a long the edges too. Other than lots of...
Very cool. Hopefully after this is all said and done my oldest and I will be able to add transmission amateurs to our résumés. We should be getting it up on my blocks before the weeks over and start getting exhaust and drive shaft out of the way and getting a spot cleared out so we can...
I’m mid Michigan about half way between Lansing and GR on the north side 96 if you are familiar with the area Portland exit. Surrounded by corn fields. Thanks I’ll check out Summit as well they have gotten a few pennies in the past few months. My manual is in the mail and I will start my reading...
Perfect thanks for the tips/advice everyone. Already checking out the A&A website. Hopefully receive my book this week so I can ask some better educated questions. As far as specialty tools hopefully the book gives some idea of what I would need? As of now plan will be to hopefully get most...
Correct. Part of my normal start up before heading out has been to let the engine warm up to temp then I cycle the gears and set parking brake and leave in neutral for a minute before checking trans fluid and heading out. Knowing it had sat I figured it would be better to really let it warm up...
If Belleville spring I’m assuming it is probably not a good idea to putter around with the car even though shifting seems fine? I’ve not rebuilt/refreshed a transmission before but is something I would like to add to the repertoire. I have a 90 Daytona with a 604 that doesn’t appreciate OD and...
So we were looking to take the charger out on the fourth and after I warmed up the engine a bit I cycled gears like normal so I could check fluid before heading out. I noticed that r and d seemed a bit delayed in engaging. Left in neutral and checked fluid levels showed good. So I put in reverse...
I do not have any ‘67 switches. Just started looking for switches and of course started on eBay and saw a set of ‘67 style for the right hand side there. I need the left for my bad switch though. Good to know I won’t cut up any ‘67 switches, I don’t like the idea of wrecking hard to find parts...
