Thanks for the replies guys. I was concerned it might damage the paint on the firewall. Was considering installing a spacer between the firewall and resistor, but according to twecomm, the firewall helps dissipate the heat.
As stated, how hot is too hot? I checked my 69 Charger (440) tonight. After 10 minutes of idle it was up to 220º. On my 72 Charger (318) after 10 minutes at idle is was 442º. I checked the wires connected to the ballast resistor and they were only 100º. I took is for a spin and when I came back...
I am considering selling my Charger.
Originally 383 Auto with A/C.
Now has built 440, I can forward specs upon request.
I spent four years restoring car. ( 2011-2014)
Car had replacement quarters when I bought it. I stripped car down to bare metal and redid all the bodywork. I installed a new...
As the title says, I am considering buying a drone. I know nothing about them. I asked my bro-in-law for some advice and pricing and he said plan on spending 1k. I see them for under $500.00 on Amazon.
I am looking for one that will take decent pics, I build/renovate a lot of decks and an...
Yanked engine out and removed tranny. If you look at the pic there is a raised section on the snout of the converter. I measured the snout and the back of the crank. The first section has plenty of clearance, but the raised section is too big. I'm going to spend a couple hours with an emery...
I posted an earlier thread about a 3/16" gap between the flex plate and converter with the converter fully seated in the tranny, was told it was fine. When I try to bolt the flex plate up to the converter the converter will not pull in against the flex plate. I am bending the flex plate. I...
Thanks for all the replies.
Yes I greased the snout of the converter with grease. Trans shop said to just coat the shaft in the tranny with tranny fluid, not grease. Dynamic told me to add one quart of oil into the converter before install.
I know that the bolt pattern is offset. Before I...
Installing my 727 to a new used 440 I bought from a friend. New flex plate from 440 Source. New torque converter from Frank at Dynamic Converter. When I mated the tranny to the block there is a 3/16" gap between the flex plate and torque converter. My new ARP bolts only have 1/2" of thread. How...
Asking for a friend with no internet skills. He has a 65 Belvedere and is replacing the 318 with a 440. Will his existing power steering pump be compatible with the 440?
Thanks
PRW Performance Platinum Series?? Never heard of them.
Has anyone used this flex plate?

Thanks for the replies. I called Dynamic this morning and spoke with Sean. Very helpful, took the time to explain how they build their converters. Their price was actually cheaper than the TCI from Summit. I did order a converter from them. Said I should see it within three weeks.
Ditto. I think you saw mine at Carlisle a few years ago. We put about 2,500 miles a year on our clone, which isn't bad considering where we live. Plus we have four other antique mopars we also drive.
I'm currently having my transmission gone through while I wait for my new engine. I will need to replace the TC since the new engine has a steel crank versus the old cast crank engine. I have narrowed it down to a 2400 stall after way too much reading on this subject.
My three choices that I...
Troy does not accept any donations, he runs the site out of his own pocket. Troy's Dad passed away last month. They were very close. Right now I'm sure he has better things to do than keep the kids in line at DC.com
I sent a couple pics to the engine builder. He called me immediately and admitted he fu*ked me on this one. said to bring it back and he would make it right, that it would not be that hard of a fix. On another board the members are saying it will need a complete tear down to check rod and crank...
Yeah. He kept telling me it must be carburation or fuel delivery. Last time we spoke he said the cam I supplied probably wasn't working well with the factory heads and recommended buying new heads. Glad I didn't listen to him on that. I knew it was more than that. After I replaced the aluminum...
Been having a problem with my 440 since it was built. I pulled it this weekend and just removed the timing cover.
According to a video I watched on youtube, Pete's Garage-Cam install it shows the timing dot on the cam gear at 6 O'clock, pointing straight down towards the gear on the crank...
