I guess it really depends on where you live and the setup you have. i can only tell you about my experience with a dead stock '69 RR 383 in the Miami heat. It was a show car and I wasn't able to use any modern cooling beyond adding some Water Wetter to the distilled water (no antifreeze...
I don't think so.. it was done in Massilon, Ohio as far as I know. But anything is possible... I'll scan a couple of the restoration pics and put them up..maybe you will recognize the place.
Belly...clean and shiny, when I get under there with a rag before a show it gleams! Waaaaay to hot...
Sorry! Got a little slammed this weekend...took the pictures today and will post! Console...Auto, buckets (deluxe interior with woodgrain wheel)
More coming..
Thanks! I've owned it for 10 years but I want to get something I can modify and play with a little more. It's fun having a 100% correct car, but I'm itching to get a nice unmolested 60's New Yorker and update it or a striaght six Dart and throw in a Gen 3 hemi...stuff like that.
Check for leaks in the cylinders, particularly the one that's not going down. Once you get back there you'll see how simple the system really is. The lines are semi transparent white or should be.
I don't remember where I got this, but here's some good advice:
One thing you can do is...
Selling my 1969 Road Runner convertible. Probably one of the best in the country. Has won gold twice, but it's no trailer queen. This is a car you can drive as much as you want. All numbers matching, full ground up resto 10 years ago. Garage kept, driven during the winter dry season almost...
Thanks! I guess I will call them. The catalog doesn't have anything listed "convertible" specific in the listings, so I'm hpoing one thier parts guys can steer me towards the right harness.
I have two questions:
1. Is the dash harness for the ragtop any different than a hardtop?
2. Who makes the best one? I want it to be a correct resto piece.
I'm thinking while I'm at it, might as well do the motor and headlight/front harness as well and get those hood mounted turn...
It's driven fairly regularly, but the summer in Miami is the rainy season so I usually don't drive as much. These days it rains almost every single day.
The weekend looks like it won't be so bad, so I want to get out and put a few miles on the ol' Road Runner, maybe put the top down and get a...
I noticed that the starter relay was not tight against the firewall, but when I tried to tighten the bolts, they didn't have any "bite". Are these supposed to screw into captured nuts or just the firewall metal? For a part that is replaced it would seem strange to have to get way up there...
If you can see any numbers on it, check out this:

They have almost any electronic part you need. From the leads I can see you might be able to cut near the resistor body and solder on a replacement if needed.
STARTER RELAY! OK... now I know one more thing! Thanks tpo!
I dunno about too much advance.. once it decides to turn over, it usually starts right away. I'll drive around tomorrow if it doesn't rain and see if tightening everything down helped.
That second bottom bolt on the relay...
Thanks! I checked and this silver box (regulator?) is loose and all the wires seem loose as well. Considering there's power going through it I will remove the battery and tighten everything down.
I think this MAY be the problem!
Yes they do. All the lights get brighter when I rev it headlights and interior.
My ignition system is the Pertronix system that replaces the points and coil. Everything else is stock, I've got an Optima Red Top battery in there at the moment (I wanted to rule out the batttery itself, so I...
