I use a pretty basic Summit dual fan /shroud on my Fury with a built 440, A/C, power everything and very tight clearances at the front of the engine. A couple of thoughts:
1) Are you sure the fans are "pullers" and both come on?

I use a loop of good, sturdy nylon rope and gloves. Hook back end of spring onto hinge and then pull front of spring forward with the loop until you can hook it on the front of hinge. Keeps your hands away from danger. Very easy with this set-up.
