Thanks all for your help deciphering this one! It actually became kind of fun reading and learning.
It is for sale of you know anyone looking for a rebuilt transmission.
Thanks!
This is actually getting interesting...
You notice it does not start with a "PK"
"A 67 trans could have an H or a J which would be 66 or 67."
This transmission is looking more and more like a 67. The 10,000 calender didn't start till 1968. Therefore decoding the date will not work.
Well if I go with what the guy told me that sold it to me it's from a 68 Charger with a 383. Which does match what that J2801543 number is.
The guy that is interested is asking for a VIN though, and I have nothing.
Hi,
I'm selling my 727 transmission and a guy wanted my VIN, so I gave him what is just above the pan.
It's comes out to a 67-68 383 2br
He said that's not the VIN, it should be stamped where the bellhousing is bolted on to the engine.
I see nothing! Then I read something that they didn't...
I think it's around 20-40 It's not real high. Like I say it's a stock bottom end so it just kind of is what it is. Once it dies I'll then make it a stoker or something of that nature. Till then I just planned on keeping it as is.
I did buy a HV oil pump, but never put it on, because of what I was told. That is without a windage tray, and stock 5 Qt pan I'd be starving it of oil at high RPMS, so I left the stock oil pump on.
Seems there are two different thoughts on this subject.
Ok, Thanks guys. The springs are what come with the RPM heads.

I have RPM Heads which states - "power from 1500 to 6500 rpm"
And a Lunati - 10230703 which states - "un-equaled power to 6200 RPM"

I have a somewhat stockish valve train with Mancini - "hardened" stock type rockers, chromoly push rods.
and a totally stock bottom end with...
I just bought new autometer gauges that came with a new speed sensor. It will not calibrate. I checked down below at the transmission and the "cable" just spins freely. The stock speedometer didnt work before either, I assumed it was the speedometer, perhaps it's the speedometer gear in the...
See that is what I was reading too but that was for a Chevy, I thought I'd ask on this forum since it's a Mopar forum, and it may be different. Everyone else here just says bolt it up.
Then people wonder why I ask. Misinformation everywhere.
However if others have bolted this up with a 1/2"...
Hi, I have everything in place for my rebuilt transmission. But the flex plate is about 1/2" away from the torque converter.
The torque converter is all the way back in the transmission. Can it be pulled up 1/2"?
Thanks@
