$289 seems like cheap insurance to me. I have paid both times I needed this done.

    Best tool you've ever had

This was the best I ever had. Skil cordless driver. My daughter bought it for me years ago at Walmart for Christmas and I used the crap out of it. Then it eventually died. I sure missed it when I went to install the new power brake booster in the Roadrunner.

    ISO welder

I bought a simple little Harbor Freight wire welder for $100. Runs on 110V and welds everything I need welded just fine.

Let's see your custom tools - the ones you can't live without...

I just had to make a tool to use to get the link pin that connects the brake booster to the brake pedal on my 74 Roadrunner. You needs hands like a 10-year old girl to reach up into the pedal bracket, plus extra hands to work the pedal and pull down on the booster rod, which is more hands than I...

    Arnold Siphon Pump

I needed to get the old gas out of my Roadrunner's tank and went looking for a pump to use. I tried using one of those POS squeeze jobs they sell at parts stores and that was worthless. I found this at Home Depot. It's made by a company called Arnold. I watched a couple of youtube videos, and...

    Finally Got a Hoist

I got one of those a few months ago, but the problem was to use it I have to empty the garage out and respot the vehicles in the driveway, which is why I decided to go ahead and get a hoist. That way I can wheel the hoist to the car and get stuff in and out easier.

    Finally Got a Hoist

I saw a 2.5 ton, foldaway, engine hoist on Craigslist and snagged it for $100, and that's with a new ram on it. :) Time to start pulling some engines!

Harbor Freight 90 AMP Flux Wire Welder

I changed out a leaf spring on the Roadrunner yesterday, and the top plate that the sway bar stabilizer bolts to had a crack in it. I hammered it back to close the crack and then hit it with the welder. Seemed to fix the problem pretty well.

Harbor Freight 90 AMP Flux Wire Welder

I had some spare cash this past weekend, and found a guy who was selling a lightly-used Harbor Freight 90 AMP flux wire welder with a stand, a grinder, three spools of wire, and a mask for $100. I looked at some videos of this rig being used on Youtube and it seemed like a decent low-buck welder...

Electric Impact Wrench - Best $50 Ever Spent

I started changing out the leaf springs on my Roadrunner this weekend, and several months ago I bought a used DeWalt electric impact wrench on craigslist. I had always wanted a pneumatic one, but by the time you buy the wrench, air lines, compressor, etc., forget it. I saw they make electric...

    Needle Scaler

We used these all the time when I was on the USS Saratoga to get paint, tile adhesive, rust, and other crap off steel decks.
