Needed a couple of front tires so got my youngest son off the ipad and got him to help me put the wheels back on.
He complained at first but then actually enjoyed it. Went up to the house and told his mom "I'm a mechanic"

After years of internal debate I finally went ahead and got a TKX 5 speed.
Still breaking it in, still have to sort out the carpet and a few things, done about 200 miles so far, big difference.
It's that time of year again here in Australia, the Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway which is the biggest drag race event in the world outside of North America, and the same weekend Cooly Rocks On in Coolangatta, a huge car show and music festival with all things from the 1950's onwards set...
It's Autumn here, usually about 80 degrees or so, but the last few days have been in the 90's.
Today was approaching 100 degrees and I needed to go to the big smoke, a 120 mile round trip so naturally I took the Plymouth with no aircon rather my daily driver.
Jeez it was hot! Car run...
Just wondering what everyone is using for engine oil? Mineral, Semi-Synthetic or Full Synthetic?
After the first rebuild of my poly I was told by a number of knowledgeable people here in Australia to run Penrite HPR 30: https://penriteoil.com.au/products/hpr-30-20w-60-mineral
The engine...
I was just getting my country music fix and came across this song which has some great scenery and a nice Superbird in it. Nice looking Sheila too!
Hope you all enjoy.
Serious question. Do you think the folk on B-Bodies are friendlier online than those on A-Bodies?
I think they are. I go onto the A Bodies site occasionally for a look, and apart from being stingier with their likes, they seem much more adversarial than us lot.
Endless arguments about 340 v...
There's a lot of conjecture about the weight of a 318 poly. "As heavy as a 440" some have claimed (a 440 weighs 670 lbs according to the info. I've found). Hughes Engines "estimates" it at 600+ lbs.
Anyway, mine is out, about to receive a stroker crank, and I weighed it.
I used 2 bathroom...
I decided to spice up the interior on my car. I had about 4 different greens/golds, so thought it wouldn't matter if I got rid of a few.
I ditched the dark green headliner (replaced with black), and sprayed the tops and bottoms of the doors in black too.
Now I just need to spray the seats to...
Went to the drags last night after 2 miss starts (one weather related, one Covid related).
Did 3 runs, nothing spectacular but solid for a 318 poly, 3.23 rear, factory exhaust manifolds, 3,750 lbs incl driver. Each run was within a tenth and 1 mph. Best was 15.3 @ 93 mph.
I was shifting manually...
I've wanted to drag my car since it's been on the road (3 years now) but the local track wouldn't let me run with lap belts. I finally fitted 3 point belts so was all set to go. I did some extensive prep work yesterday morning (checked the oil and coolant, cleaned the windshield), then set out...
Had a new 2.5" exhaust system fitted this week, got the car back today. The old system was a mix of 2.25" and 2
5", hung too low from the diff back and was a dog's breakfast. Anyway, I had some new mufflers fitted at the same time, Thrush Glasspacks (the long 23" ones) to replace the no-name...
Big thanks to Sahara - he was offering the Polar Bear shaped licence plates and I requested one which he duly sent all the way from nearly the North Pole to down under. Wouldn't accept any payment. It arrived yesterday and the kids loved it! It now has pride of place on my garage wall.

So I've owned 2 small blocks and a 351 Cleveland which apparently is neither small block nor big block, but never a genuine big block. What am I missing out on? Is it the low down torque, different sound, more frequent visits to the gas station:)?
My 318 poly is pretty torquey and goes ok for...
I've got a 727 in my Satellite. I've previously had an auto Barracuda, and an auto in a 351 Falcon (Australian model). I've never driven a 4spd in a muscle car, but all my everyday cars have been manuals as I generally hate autos (unless they are behind a big torquey V8).
My question is, how...
So I'm on my second Mopar. I had a '69 fastback Barracuda in the late 90's which had a 318, and now I have a '66 Satellite with another 318 (this time a poly). Both were/are hopped up and leave all the everyday cars for dead (the Barracuda was in the UK where a big engine was 2 litres).
I've...
