So I did a little search here and couldn't find the answer. I got the proper fuel tank lock ring and rubber gasket from a source here. The aftermarket one I installed leaks when the tank is full. My question is, should I use any kind of lubricant on the rubber gasket to help it slide/seal better?
Thank you to all the good advice on my 1406 Edelbrock issues. The newest issue is now the fuel pump. It's stock and less that 2 years old. Already starting to give me problems. Sometimes the clear plastic fuel filter is empty and the pressure will dip below 2 psi. I decided on the Edelbock fuel...
Here's the deal. When I bought my late 70s 360, it came with an aluminum intake and the 1406 carb. Earlier this year I had it rebuilt by an old timer here in my town. The 360 has a mild torquer cam, under-chassis headers and duals. Nothing major, just a cruising motor. Now that I'm up and...
So I've been searching and searching here, reading all the posts. Found out Bill Rolik has the correct lock ring. I will be ordering later today. I did not see the rubber gasket seal on his site. What is the proper one to use? I don't want the cheapo thin ones that don't seal. Anyone have a...
So I pulled the 273 2 barrel out of my 65 Belvedere wagon. I dropped in a 360 4 barrel. I have the stock 4 barrel brackets. What's the correct throttle cable I should use? A part # or a link would be great.
My 65 Belvedere wagon has a 273 2 barrel. The air cleaner assembly uses the old compression clamp with long wingnut along the side to undo it from the carb. It there an adaptor so I can put a more modern air filter assembly on it? The throat is about 2 5/8". The only ones I've found so far are...
Ok, So I went to go take my 65 Coronet 4 door out for a ride. Gas gauge is reading empty. I go put some gas in it and the needle didn't move. I got underneath and checked the ohms on the sending unit. It's reading around 88-90 ohms. Should I just buy a new sending unit? What's a good quality one...
Getting ready to pit the tank back in wifey's 65 Belvedere wagon. I put the grommet on the tank and it is loose enough that it spins freely. I even put the filler tube in and I can spin the filler tube by hand. It's snug around the filler tube, just loose on the tank. Should I try some gasket...
Since I'm cleaning up the gas tank in wifey's wagon I figured I'd also get a new ring and seal. Before I put it back together, how do I test it to make sure it works? I don't want to put it all back together and then the gas gauge doesn't work. I need to do it on my shop bench. Car is apart and...
Ok, so I'm cleaning the gas tank from my wifes 65 wagon. Well there are two pinholes at the top of the tank. A little rust maybe just from water sitting over the years. The rest of it is good. What do you use for tank repair? Afterwards I'm going to brush on some POR-15.
Can anyone tell me how to get the gas tank out of a 65 Plymouth Belvedere II wagon? I have the J bolt out, unscrewed the filler neck from the top filler, axle and leaf springs are out and it just wiggles in place? I can't seem to move it forward. So before I really try to force it I figure I...
I've been working on my newest toy that I bought last year. The last real issue I'm having is the 1 barrel carb. It's a 65 Dodge and pretty much original. I got it to a point where it's running pretty good. I leave it to a good friend to really fine tune it. He knows his stuff, really...
