The Basics: 440HP, auto xmsn, Carter carb, electric fuel pump 115gph, 14psi (no mechanical pump), Mr. Gasket fuel pressure regulator. The problem: Starts and runs at idle just fine for however long you let it run. Driving on the other hand has issues. First, when accelerating it stumbles...

First the basics; 1971 Dodge 440Magnum HP. Automatic xmsn, Carter AVS #4968S carb. 2951-653 Choke assy. The issue: It does not appear that there is enough room under the carb castings for it (the choke assy) to fit. Is there supposed to be a carb spacer ? If so how tall ? I have the louvers and...

    Interesting turn of events

Ok, Lets back up to Labor Day weekend. The car (71 440 charger) is running very nicely. I decided to take it around the property a couple of times. It is still running well, although it almost stalls in gear. Anyway, since this is its first time moving under its own power in probably 10 years, I...

    Carb brain trust

I am searching for the fast idle rod for my Carter AVS 4968S carb. Does anyone know if the rod is the same as on the Carter AFB or a similar Edelbrock ? I have been searching to the best of my limited knowledge, now it is time to call on the guru's !

    Holley 4160 accelerator cable

I am in the process of installing a Holley 4160 on my '71 440. So far the accelerator cable is too short. I added some small chain links as a temporary measure (about 1.25 inches). just to have the carb closed. In the current format it only opens about 3/4 throttle. There really is very little...

    '71 440 Magnum vacuum diagram

Being that my car sat in the desert for a couple of years, most, if not all of the vacuum hoses/lines are gone. I need to get busy replacing them soon. If somebody has a good vacuum diagram/ schematic, I would appreciate it. Thanks

    Holley 3310 Dual inlet ?

I received a 3310 yesterday (used) it appears to have 2 fuel inlets, but on opposite sides. It looks like the same bowl assembly was used at both ends. The only dual fuel lines I see available have both inlets on the same side. WTH
