Perioldically, my 63 Fury 400 dies at idle and refuses to run for 5-15 min, then cures itself. It will only run with rapid accel pump shots. did it today on the way to have my new vert top installed!
I don't think it is vapor lock, as the temp in PDX this am was 70! My fuel pressure gauge acts...
My 400 with 4bbl Edelbrock 4bbl usually refuses to start, then leaks fuel out of the left front side while i am cranking. I have rebuilt the carb and set the float levels at least twice! Help please.
I finally have sorted this carb so that it starts, runs strongly, and doesn't spill any fuel. Pressure set at 4-5, fuel in transparent filter, but...if I accelerate up the hill to my house, the engine slows, and even dies. It is then difficult to start, despite fuel in filter. I don't think...
I have attempted to tune this vgc E 1407 at least 4 times. All parts renewed. Today I re-checked the float levels and set them correctly to 7/16", tried to start the engine, and no go, plus backfire. Took off the top again and found fuel everyplace, including in the wells for the secondary...
Fires immediately when cold, but then requires much accel pump to run. I adjusted the choke to about 1/4" open when cold. Today I noticed fuel drops from the main nozzle. Would this be floats too high, or pressure too high. I do have a gauge, and restrict the pressure to 4-6 psi.
My 63 SF with a 70 400 and Edelbrock 1407 quit suddently, driving up hill in heat. I thought it might be empty tank, so rolled into station and it took only 13gal.
then it wouldn't start, and somebody yelled "pump it" so i did.
It started, and then backfired and burst into flame. Fortunately...
