Trunk lid not aligned with dutchman panel.... How do I Fix this?
So I have been working on gaping the trunk lid from my 69 Charger and have found a problem that I am not sure how to fix.
I have established the 3/16 gap on the 3 sides (looks good)
My problem is when the lid is...
I am in the process of door gapping, and after getting the gaps close I thought I should install the upper and lower bumper stops to check the outer alignment to quarter and door position (in and out to the striker)
I am working with an original inner door that I skinned with an AMD door skin...
I am getting ready to set all the panel gaps and install UScartool subframe connectors.
Presently the car is sitting on a body jig. And it will go on a rotisserie to finish out the bottom and all body work.
(The body jig supports the car at the 8 frame locations)
My question is with the car...
In my case I have spot primed welded areas with duplicolor 2 in 1 primer. Which is a rattle can and is according to there tech sheet lacquer based.
Later on I will use K36 urethane primer.
I have been told that eventually I would have a problem because urethane does not like lacquer and wont...
Working on my 69 charger panel gaps. I installed an AMD door skin (which has not been welded) I thought I should put the vent wing in and noticed this 1/2 inch gap. There is no other weather stripping installed.
Does this look right?

I think my tail panel may be out of position as the bumper bracket holes don't line up. If I could get a dimension along the trunk lock support, from the floor to the high point of the tail panel that would help! I am getting 13-1/4
Thanks and MERRY CHRISTMAS
Another topic brought this up and I would like to know how everyone is fixing these areas.
Typically there are 3 areas (on each side of the car) that had the factory lead.
Quarter panel 2 roof,
a-pillar 2 cowl,
and rocker 2 quarter panel.
I thought that it was acceptable to weld the entire...
I am getting ready to weld the cowl in and was wondering if my wiper pivots not being in center would be a problem?
I guess I could e-longate the hole from the back side
I just talked to my AMD re-seller about replacing the deck filler panel that I have, with a new one from AMD.
The panel I have is at least 6 years old and apparently the stamping was off. (Thanks to SGTPaul for pointing this out) It needs to be longer (left to right from the back of the car) by...
I have a question about the installation of my AMD full quarter panels
Should the quarters align on the rear window pinch weld?
Or should that inner window opening edge of the quarter align with the window edge of the roof structure?
The drivers side is good, but the pass side is 3/16 inboard...
My upper cowl has been removed. It and the lower cowl have been epoxy primed.
Is the epoxy primer good enough or should It get paint? Maybe with a rattle can?
What Should I use? Something like SEM trim black?
Should the back side of the upper cowl get some kind of dampening material sprayed on...
I am working on assembling the rear end body panels of a 1969 Charger and I need advise on how to proceed.
Here is a list of the metal I am working with:
donor metal or original metal:
inner rockers (welded in)
rear frame rails (welded in)
front floor pan (welded in)
rear seat pan...
I am replacing my roof skin with a skin from a donor car and am replacing the drip rails with new ones from AMD.
Has anyone put these on?
Is there anything to it?
Maybe positioning to the front A-pillar drip rail?
There is a gap but the trim should cover it right?
Thanks
Don
I am looking for the best way to go about installing this donor roof skin and appreciate your input.
Thank you
I patched the back rear window channel
I was planning on sanding the skin down to bear metal, then removing the skin.
Then rust converting both sides (inner and outer)
Then epoxy...
I am getting ready to put door skins on and was wondering if I should (after epoxy priming the inside) apply some type of a sound deadener like lizard skin to the inside of the skins.
Also when I go to bend the outer lip over should I plug weld it like the factory or would it be better to use a...
This is my 1st thread since the software upgrade so please bear with me.
I am working on assembling the back half of my 1969 charger.
I am mocking up the quarter panel and have questions about where the
quarter panel, rear valance, valance corner and rear cross-member come together
Here is a...
