I just seen pics of a 440 stamping was was shaved off. On the front engine boss, only part of the info was there. The F440 was there & the letters HP were there. Looks like any other info were machined off. Any reason for that to be done ??
A couple days ago while driving my car, I stopped at a red light. The oil guage went to "0" ( zero ). I made a quick right turn to get off the road & the oil pressure shot up to 20 lbs. 20lbs is still not good but good enough to get home. After some deliberation, we put a mechanical guage on the...
Is it possible to clean the oil pickup while it's still in the pan on the car. By that, I mean can I take the oil filter off & force air back thru the system to clean any dirt or obstructions that may be clogging the pickup. Not that mine is clogged. I've always wondered that.
I just got a set of the stealth heads from 440 Source. Do the factory pushrods work with these heads. And will i need to open the pushrod bore as I have the 3/8 pushrods. It's a stock 440+6.
I noticed some coolant dripping under my car. Fresh build ( 500 miles ) on my "70" 440. Completely stock engine. I found coolant coming under one of the head bolts by #3 plug. Could the coolant be coming up the bolt & weeping out??
70 RR with 440. Minor oil leak is making me remove the oil pan & re-do the windage tray & gaskets. Can the pan be removed without taking off the cross link ?? And is there a part # for the higher capacity pan. I just want to make sure I have the correct pan on it.
New 440 a month ago with new exhaust flange gaskets. Already one has blown out. What are the best gaskets to use with stock exhaust. Someone suggested Remflex. But they don't list for a 440.
Has anyone used the heat riser repair kit ?? Although mine is rusted in the open position, i would like to have a working part. Do the repair kits work & how hard are they to do ??
I need help in getting the correct speedo gear for my car. 1970 RR auto, 3:23 rear & P235/60/15 tires on the rear. What speedo gear should I be using. The speedo in the dash is registering about 5 mph fast with the current one.
Thanks
I had my car ( 70 RR ) in for a state inspection. I had the mechanic check the rear axle fluid. It was way low. He added synthetic fluid to top it off, about a full bottle. Will mixing synthetic with normal fluid cause any problems. And I didn't add any sure grip additive.

I'm going to change the rear diff oil. After getting the old oil out, how should go back in. And how much additive goes in for the limited slip ???

I have a 70 RR 440+6. I have Mopar electronic ingition w/vacuum advance. The timing is set @ 5 btdc. I do run a mixture of 110 octane with 93 unleaded. The spark plugs are gapped at 35. Is there a different combo i should try to relieve the pinging???

Can anyone tell if 70 b-body hp exhaust manifolds are different from the 68-69 ones. I always see someone selling the 68-69 ones & not for the 70.

I have a completely stock 70 440 +6 auto RR with Chrysler electronic ignition. Right now the timing is set at 8 initial advanced. With the vacuum line off & plugged I think it's about 20-25 advanced at 2500 rpm. Should it be higher or should I check it at 3000 rpm ???

I have a feeling what the answer will be. My 440+6 after it's long winter nap is puffing blue smoke out the exhaust. Before putting it away for winter it didn't do this. Only engine work this winter was to have the carbs professionally rebuilt. I've had the car only a few years, so I don't know...
I have a 70 RR 440+ 6 California emission car. I have been replacing the fuel lines with new stainless lines. I have the 3 lines to correctly rout. 3/8 fuel line, 1/4 return line & the one from the vapor tube in the trunk that goes to the breather on the valve cover. I have all three installed...
