So I had a new Dr Diff power-lok & new Motive Gear set installed a while back. Putbabout 10-15 mi on it but would howl/clunk unloaded otherwise it was fine. Backlash IIRC was .022" +/-. Sent it back and that was corrected but now I had a vibration that was pretty severe & wasnt there before, so...
I found these NOS Erson Hydraulic lifters @ the swap meet but cant find this number anywhere. They look like they may have come out of the 70s or early 80s. They are .904 & I didnt write it down but I think they were 1.823 tall

So I posted a while back that my motor started making a hack of a racket, It only has about 30-45 minutes of idle/ reading time irn it.
I pulled the motor a couple of weeks ago and started tearing down the top end and this past weekend tore the bottom apart.
I had figured it was the idler gear...
Have a chance to pick up a 493 stroker for a fair price, problem is with my heads it would be a paltry 9.2. I spent a good amount of time talking to Hughes about cam profiles and one that could make a bunch of low end grunt 600 (<4500) and be north of 550.

So installed my shifter yesterday, everything went relatively smooth with one exception. The neutral safety switch works in park, reverse neutral, 2nd & 3rd. The problem is in 1st, if shifting from neutral to 1st I can still start the motor, if I give the shifter just a little bump it will not...

Is it worth the additional $100 having a full forged housing vs cast steel (like power lock)?

I have a big block 727 that I bought and had rebuilt, bought a Speedmaster billet yoke, verified shaft was 29/30 spline. Had to push and wiggle hard to even get it to start to engage.
Checked it on my 4spd and it skipped right on.
Are there different output shaft diameters? This just ain't...
Can anyone tell me if there is a 727 w/30 splines ever come with a keyed spline on the output shaft?
I purchased a billet steel shaft yoke with 1350 u joints and the yoke has a keyed groove...all of my spline on my tail shaft are symmetrical ( un-clocked)...IIRC my trans is a 69

Does anyone know what length drive shaft a 67 Coronet w/a 727 & Dana? It's Sunday & too dang hot and late in the day to go to the shop to measure. Would it be the same as a 65 Belve by chance?

So I bought Hayden trans cooler with a fan. The line size is a 9/16 flare, I have 4an fitting in my case, would there be any issues with changing those to a 6an? Also the threads in the case appear to be straight, so I'm assuming that a 1/4" NPS is correct? Thanks
So I have a dumb question, when setting up my clearances Comp says that I need .030, is that for each set of rockers between pedestals (total), not on each side of the rocker? (.060 between stands)?
These have Comps steel hold downs and the solid steel spacer. Tried to find thier directions but...
Im having a friend rebuild my trans as I still beleive that are controlled by black majic and a sprinkle of vodoo, that will be installed in my 67. Motor should be according to desktop 600hp/tq range will be a street/stoplight bruiser 99.9% of the time.
So my question is if I buy a VB with low...
So I was mocking up my motor this weekend and noticed that some of the coolant passages were partially/totally blocked. Is the slit normal, and the lower passages are totally blocked???

Have a question which way offers the best cooling for a trans....using a factory trans cooler in the radiator or a remote unit with a fan? Will the cooler in the radiator adversely affect the total cooling capacity of the radiator?

Im confused here, Milodon has two shafts listed one is 8.5 long (21520) & one that is 8.187 long (21523), both listed as for a RB??? Can someone tell me why they are different lengths for the same application???
