the 904 behind my 67 Sat 318 is ready for a rebuild or replace.
I met a vendor at Carlisle (rocket performance transmissions) but I've also seen A&A transmissions recommended.
I see A&A has a 904 street perf. trans for $1095. Not sure if that's shipped or if a core has to be shipped back.

I have a rebuilt 318, whiplash cam, headers, 904 automatic, curved Petronix dist and 3.23 sure grip spinning 245/60-15's in a 67 satellite.
Which converter stall speed would you recommend ?
Hughes says 1800 to 2200 (stock to mild)

have driver side long tube header loose, starter removed, driveshaft removed.
Check me on next steps, rotate engine to get converter drain to 6 O'clock, drain. Paint one of the bolts to allow future assembly. Rotate engine and remove converter bolts...
i have 2843675 318 heads(68-71) that i'm about to order intake gaskets. I suspect an intake leak pulling oil.
Previously i installed the Fel pro 1213 gaskets.
Maybe i'm getting crosseyed and reading too much but i've read all pre-1989 head are 2BBL and as such..would I use the Fel pro 1243...

so I swapped my 741 open chunk for a 489 suregrip. Bought a Moog 347 combo u-joint and small side will fit drive shaft but large side doesn't "fit" right in. Wasn't sure if yoke was changed on this chunk but Dia. me asurements seem to be correct. See how the large side(7290) of joint fits. So...

These should bump compression to 9:1
This is a 904 w/ 2.76 8 3/4 (planning on 3.55's).
Planning on dual plane intake, 600 holley, headers with 2.5 exhaust.
