I have a stock unmodified (has a 3:91 gear set) 67 hemi gtx 727 8 3/4 combination. Was out for an end of season cruise yesterday that included mostly highway speed driving. I generally stay between 55 and 60 because of the gears. Under part throttle at those speeds it is smooth as glass. If I...
So I purchased a billet single bolt 9 keyway timing set for my 440. I wanted a quality billet set but didn’t want or need the nine crank slots. Just run the cam straight up. Purchased from 440 Source but turns out it’s a Summit private label part. So first thing I notice is the marks are not...
I've got to choose head gaskets for my 426 hemi rebuild. I know many people love cometic mls gaskets. They are on the short list. When it comes to composition gaskets the Best Gasket Co offers a graphite head gasket with flattened steel ring ( has anyone ever used gaskets from this company...
I noticed the end pedestal on each set of rocker assemblies the locating pin hole is oval and not round. Is this normal or do these 2 need to be replaced?
I had started another thread on weak performance on this 426 Hemi. Started the tear down and have several questions .
So I want to detail and re paint the engine compartment regardless, so engine is out. This engine has not run in several weeks. There was all this liquid on every closed intake...
So I've started dealing with some mechanical issues in my 67 GTX . I already pulled the 833 and rebuilt it. But I've never been satisfied with the performance of the hemi, always felt like it had a slight misfire and generally feels lacking. Even though it does have even cranking compression...
Isn't there a tool made to pull the tailshaft bushing from an 833 4spd without removing the housing? looking online and checked Brewers I'm not finding what I'm looking for.
Customer of mine had a rotted core plug in his 440. He gave me shallow brass 1 5/8 plugs. Had a little bit of an issue getting it in (headers) but I thought it was good. Came out the next day and had some coolant in the drip tray. Barely leaks but it leaks. Removed it , when out and bought a...
I’ve got a noisy differential, grumbling unhappy, not a whine. It has a relatively new power lock branded clutch type sure grip.
Pulled out the pig tonight and see nothing obvious wrong. The cross shaft have the angled machined surfaces that fit into the V of the housing. If you look carefully...
I’ve searched for a part number for a hybrid u joint that I could look for locally and not have to order one.
Is there a joint made that would be 1350 driveshaft and 7290 on the 8 3/4 pinion yoke.
If any one knows a part number would be a big help. If it’s even made.
Dan
So I just finished installing a mechanical water temp and oil pressure gauge. In a 67 street Hemi, stock trim. I was surprised that on a cold start high idle (1500 rpm) it reads 90 psi. Once warm choke off 700 rpm it drops to 40 psi. Off idle driving 75/80 psi . I wasn’t expecting these numbers...
want to install a mechanical coolant temp gauge but the pipe plug in the timing cover on the 426 won't budge. anyone have any tips besides a burning all the paint off with a torch to free this puppy up? pretty sure its oe so I don't think I could weld a nut to the top of it, if its oe its not...
Customer of mine has a 65 Satellite. Current engine is a 73 (?) 440 with the original 65 727 cable shift trans. I will be installing a 69 727 trans. On his current set up the converter has a balance weight. The 69 trans that is going in has no balance weight, besides buying a new converter for...
i've been going through countless dorman info pages looking for wheel studs for the factory disc brake rotors on a 67 gtx, has anyone crossed this bridge and have a part number that is suitable?
I’m doing my extension housing bushing on my 67 GTX . I’m cleaning everything up. This mount appears to be original and still firm and in good shape so I’d like to reuse it. But looking at it , it seems like it is leaning, is it bent?
Trying to identify a trans in a customers car
G2466148 1886340 is the pan rail stamping
Appreciate any help, it’s in a 65 satellite but I don’t think it’s oe.
Replacing the axle bearings on my 67 GTX, once all the old was removed and things cleaned up I see a small Nick exactly where the seal rides.
Can I just 2 part epoxy and file smooth or is there a better repair?
Thanks Dan
