I’m in the middle of assembling my 440 and the oil pickup the machine shop gave me is wrong. It’s way too long.
I have a ‘77 block but am putting on a 6qt Hemi oil pan.
the pick up I have is a Melling 67-71 pick up. Part no. 63-S3.
Looks like I’m dead in the water til I figure this out lol
I’m trying to figure what what center section I have. My car is a ‘69 Coronet 500.
I can’t find any numbers on the driver side. I can only find these numbers on the passenger side.
I did pull off the gear ratio tag.. 2.76.
I just recieved my intake from Mancini. On the website it shows the Perforner RPM but when I opened the box, it says Mopar Wedge. They look similar? Did I get the wrong intake?
My '77 440 has the oil dipstick coming out of the side of the oil pan, is there a provision on the block to convert it for a car? It's going in my 69 Coronet, so I will be putting the correct 5 or 6qt pan on, my question is, what do I do about the dipstick?
Pulled the drivetrain and pressure washed all the crud off. I found out I have a 76 360 and 727. I tried googling the specs but didn’t come up with much. 8.7:1 compression is about all I found.
After I pull my motor, degrease, pressure wash, etc, I’m planning to paint it the correct red with Herbs engine paint. Can I paint the aluminum intake and water pump or will it require any special prep/primer?
Has anyone used the Comp Cams Thumpr in a small block? I want to put a new, choppy cam in my 360 when I have it out. I love the way these cams sound. Will it work with stock heads etc? I do have an aftermarket intake, not sure what's going on inside the motor yet, I'm assuming it's stock.
So, I decided to do a compression check on my 360, all of the cylinders were between 110-115. When I got the car, he started it and I didn't see any blue smoke. Does this mean I have a low compression engine or is it super tired?
