    New header problem/consideration

So I've been planing to use the Hedmans I got at a swap meet a few years back for my Eddy headed 383. I made the "mistake" of using ARP studs. And guess what! Studs stick up far enough to require grinding about .25" off the bottom of each flange. Still playing with if the studs will clear the...

    Missing plug?

So I just stabbed the cam...was going to pop the chain on and I got that sinking feeling.. Shouldn't there be a plug in this hole? No I didn't build it...I bought it and found it this way. Thanks.

    Correcting a Hodge-podge mystery 727

So a trans I acquired years ago is being pressed into service. It was allegedly rebuilt..(I agree) and with Hemi parts (mostly disagree). So I found 4 new waffle cut clutches per drum..ok..not hemi..but not 3 either. 4 pinion planets, 9 springs in the front drum, and a sad little 3.2 lever...

    Fresh 904 skipping 2nd gear

First Tqflite rebuild in 30 years. I got a good kit with alto frictions and kyolene steels. All new seals, all measurements fell within spec. There was already a proven TF-2 kit in the valvebody which remained intact. I added a CRT multi spring to the front as the big anti wound coil was weak...

    489 /8.75....Hammer time?

Hello all, Am I correct in assuming something is very wrong if after removing the pinion nut, yoke, seal, and washer that repeated blows from a 4lb sledge to get the pinion gear free of the housing is required? I picked up a "rebuilt" 489 hog head with 3.73 gears a while back...it didnt feel...

    Smog 440 bore?

Man I seem to consistently find the weird ones. So my 04/12/1978 440, which "allegedly " came from a low mile motor home...just for giggles I measured the bore (3 different depths, 2 different directions all 8 holes) and i come up with the same exact measurment...which normally would put a huge...

    Confirm or deny? Comp height

I read an almost 20 year old post where a very respectable member of another board said, "1968 and 1969 383 2&4 bbl pistons shared the same Compression height...just the 2bbl were dished." With more info available these days as our world continues to grow smaller, would anyone care to add yes...
