I bought a NOS Racer Brown STX-22 cam that was advertised as for a big block.
I test fitted it in my block and it seems right but just a tad different than other cams I have.
Could it be a 426 Hemi cam? Would a Hemi cam even fit into a B/RB engine?
It seems like everything lines up good...
I’m partway through building the bottom end of my 383. I was just about to gap the piston rings but when I test fit them they won’t go in the grooves on the pistons…
Do I need special rings or something? 30 over TRW L2293 dome pistons and Hastings 30 over moly rings.
I’ve been trying to buy a solid roller cam for months, everything’s out of stock or on a 6 month back order.

Ok. This is a mystery to me.
I bought this distributor at a swap meet in a parts lot.
It has the body, cap, and rotor of a MSD 8534 old style distributor for a LA Mopar smallblock.
But here's where things get weird:
It has zero electronics inside or advance mechanism at all, and it appears to...
Bought a parts lot at the Mason Dixon dragway Mopar show today.
Can I get some help identifying parts/ info on them?
First is this MSD distributor, PN comes back as a 340 Pro Billet but it is an older style MSD Billet and is clearly not for a Mopar because of the oil pump gear.
Next is this...
Accidentally hit the teflon bushing with a wire wheel while cleaning it. Still useable? I'll probably get a MSD distributor, but I want to keep all the original #s parts.
It is a fully functional distributor.

I'm getting my 383 bored 30 over and the machine shop is telling me I need to have my crank balanced. It is a '67 forged crank and will have TRW flat top pistons.
Do I really need to get it balanced? The crank is in perfect condition and I don't have a huge budget.
