I'm working on a 440. Stock manifolds, 440 Stealth heads, Comp Cams XE262H-10 cam and lifters, Comp Cams Ultra Pro Magnum adjustable roller rockers. I need shorter pushrods- 9.100", which I ordered from Smith Bros. They came today, and unfortunately, are drilled for oil-thru. I saw posts here...
Just installed a pair of 440 Source stealth heads with their head gaskets. I'm using Comp Cams hydraulic lifters with their XE-262H-10 cam. With no pre-load, my pushrod length checker measures 9.200 in. My pushrods measure 9.300 in. Is this too much pre--load. Should I be looking for 9.250in...
On a 69 GTX, if a Dana 60 axle was swapped out to an 8 3/4, would the driveshaft length remain the same? I don't have the Dana available to measure and compare. Thanks.
Had a leaking axle seal or gasket. Pulled the axle this morning, and in looking in the axle tube on the right side with a flashlight, saw this part about 16 inches in. What is it and what does the job entail? 69 4-speed GTX. Is this a pinion shaft thrust spacer.
Back in 1985 I purchased a new Dodge 1/2 ton pickup, 318 with a 4-speed overdrive trans. 3rd gear was 1:00 to 1:00, 4th was OD. Anyone have any experience putting this trans in a car? 100,000 miles later, I took the OD trans out and replaced it with a 4-speed from a smallblock 69 Barracuda that...
Fresh build of a 500 stroker this spring, new Melling standard pressure and volume oil pump. Before firing the motor the first time, I pre-lubed with a drill motor, and was sort of suprised at how long it took to bring up oil pressure. That was 1,000 miles ago. Oil pressure was running 45 lbs at...
I’m putting my rebuilt 440 engine to my rebuilt 727 and new torque converter. There seems to be no clearance between the flex plate and converter. The converter lugs measure a tight 1/2” recessed from the face of the transmission housing. The flex plate surface is about 1/2” out from the block...
The 727 trans from my '67 R/T is out getting rebuilt. I sanded off most of the corrosion and gray paint that someone else applied. What colors or materials are most people using to re-finish their transmissions?
I have a 67 R/T with a 68 440 HP motor. Stock AVS carb, cast iron manifolds. 727 trans. 3.23 rear ratio. I believe the motor is stock. I'm thinking of changing the cam to perk it up a bit, and am considering the Edelbrock Performer Plus 270/280 degree, .420"/.442" lift cam. I would like some...
