Hi all happy 4th! I rigged this up today to prep my new pinion for good bearing fit, it was bigger than it needed to be on each end. I dont have a lathe so I used my drill press with a socket on a hex drive chucked into it for the small end and a scrap of aluminum with a machine screw and a nut...
So I am putting together this relatively stock 1974 440 8-1 cast pistons 060 over and putting in a Summit 6400 cam. I have a degree wheel on it now and it is advanced 2 degrees, stock timing set with one bolt cam gear.
So option one leave it alone thinking a little more cylinder pressure might...
I am putting a console shift in the RR, getting ready to weld in this bracket, looks like it is placed so the vertical torque rod is centered up on the round flat on the tunnel? Is that what we want?
Well I finally got around to taking the rear axle apart to clean it and see what it needs, and discovered there is no sure grip in there, somewhere along the line of 70's used car lot flippers it got swapped out for an open carrier with 2.76 gears. Probably the same fuker that did the horrible...
