I replaced the rear end and differential this past summer. The old differential had a small yoke with a sort of side bars which kept the universal caps in place. The new differential is also a small yoke but it has no retainer side bars to retain the caps. I had to purchase new retainer straps...
Don and I installed the new rear end in my 64 Fury today and after Don left I continued to install some other items and connect the drive shaft to the differential. After tightening everything up I found that the caps didn’t hold the universal tight. The yoke is a small and the same as was in...
I’m replacing the seals on an 8 3/4” rear end I bought and I received two foam seals, 2 axle seals and 2 stamped metal seals that go between the flange and backing plates. The metal seals were not on the housing or backing plates when I brought it home.

Thanks!

I bought an original 1970 383 HP short block with 20,000 miles, its all stock except for a Elgin Pro Stock E1053P cam and new lifters. Pistons are the stock 1970 383 magnum factory flat tops with a CR of 9.4 using a .020 steel head gasket. Engine ran well, no leaks or smoking. Heads are fresh...
I can remember reading about vibration in the drive line. I can't remember what you do to find out if its in the rear end or universals......I have only had the car of the street once since I got it due to the snow so I really can't say at what speed although I would guess its around 40 give or...
In my researching transmission coolers I came up with some interesting although basic information that I felt may be useful to those wanting to learn a little about the coolers before they start shopping.
There are four basic types available one being the "Heat Sink" style which can be...
I had found this link last year and just remembered I had it. It takes you step by step in removing and replacng the two seals. Its a good artical with photos. One of the MODS may want to pin this for future use by the members...
