Yes, I know it’s a no no to use them, no excuses on my part, just the fact I had one in the cabinet and thought it would be ok to use till I got a WIX.
Well that went out the window yesterday morning. I have the Holley Terminator and wired in the oil pressure sending unit along with the...
Has anyone ever ground a groove in them to let more oil come out? I’m thinking of doing this cause I’m not seeing A LOT of oil between them, rockers (Erson ductile iron) and the separating spring.
I have oil coming out of holes for the top and adjuster, but I’d like to see a tad bit more.
Just finished another Dana 60 today. This is going in my buddy’s 71’ Duster 340 4 speed 4 link. After seeing mine he sold his 8 3/4 and I picked this one up. So I did the measuring, cutting and assembly. It’s got a power lock, motive gears 3:54’s, Dr. Diff 35 spline axles, green bearings, new...
and I installed the 2nd valve spring yesterday. But....from the get go, it sounds like a sewing machine. The cam is a Comp XE285HL. Just wondering if anyone has some insight on this? Read a few things that state due to the ramp rate, that's the noise it makes.
Other than that, it's bitchin'!
Broke the 470 in, and I think I have s problem. My rockers are Harland Sharp roller rockers and it looks as though I don't have enough oil hitting the valve springs, also not much oil at the bottom of the head.
I did prime before fire up and I got oil out of both sides, pressure was good. At...
Got the 470 broke in, temp never got above 213, and oil pressure was 60 @ 2300 and 40 @ 1900. Varied the rpm's while breaking in the cam. Ran it 25 minutes, break in oil and Comp's breaking additive was used.
So is it ok to now install the 2nd valve spring?
I have an old (was my grandfathers) square drive piston ring compressor and it won't compress the ringsfar enough to get the piston in the hole.
So what are you using? I found some at summit racing for my bore size of 4.375 and they vary from 45-70. Which should I get?
I picked these up for a good price and want to know a few things.
1. The rockers and spacers were a pain to get off, shaft doesn't look too bad, but should I get new shafts?
2. Anything in particular I should know about these 1.5 ratio rockers?
Had to pull my engine from the shop cause he's taking too long. He's a 1 man show, and ALWAYS busy, really great engine builder, but he's had my stuff for almost 2 months. he said he could have it done by Friday, but I chose to just bring it home. I don't want a rush job, and that's what it...
My 383 that was rebuilt when I bought my 69' took a **** a few weeks ago. I was down shifting from 4 to 2, got on it and all of sudden I hear metal scrapping together.
Limped it home, about 3 blocks and parked it.
Just pulled the engine and it spun #1 and 2 rod bearings. No knocking sound...
Got a set of Erson rockers and I'm sending them to Rock Arms Unlimited so they can be bushed. Also getting the rocker shafts they have with the banana grooves in them.
Not too sure how these things lived without a bronze bushing all these years, but no one will sell shafts to me if the rockers...
Here's my cam...
Comp XE285HL
These are the springs 924-16.
Now to my question. Since these are double springs, I would like NOT to run them as changing them in my Dart is a pain. So what single spring can I use with the Stealth heads?
Today I got the rebuilt 383 all primed with 78lbs.of pressure. Rotated the engine quite a few times and all is good. Radiator will be done on Monday, also need to fill the 4spd. I need to hook up 1 wire for the Holley Terminator and let it rip.
