Bought from Classic, but you can get direct from Lares. 2.5 turns. No need to change steering column or pitman. Transformed the car, tho' the steering feels dead, and the new PS pump needs fast idle to cope at idle. I have only driven a few miles, but so far, I can recommend...
My pump, #2129623, was revulit by a reputable shop. It has no output at idle. I would like to replace it, but have searched the usual: Classic, Lares, Steer and Gear. Any out there for sale? Thanks.
Classic advertises a 62-72 PS gearbox with 2 1/2 turns, and standard. Is a fast ratio possible for my 63?
Also, what does the steering ratio mean, eg 15,7:1?
Do TB eventually deform, and/or lose designed torque resistance, like leaf springs? If so, would the front end sag? Can the bar be twisted, to restore height and response? FWIW, I bought new ones, reasonable price for my 63 Vert, 1.05, I think and am pleased with the ride!
The front suspension, brakes, and steering is all new on my 63 SF. However, the steering is so stiff that there is no caster return: the car stays in the turn unless I manually wind it back to straight ahead. Alignment is close to specs.
The guys who rebuilt the box say to do a "pinch test"...
I looked through all previous threads, which mostly concern loose steering.
On my 63, I have a rebuilt RedHead heavy box, 0.94 bars, and all suspension parts, idler, Pitman etc new, plus disc brakes. The car is transformed with a ride and stiffness that is balanced. But...the power steering has...
for 63 Sport Fury: I understand that Firm Feel and Steer and Gear achieve tighter feel by using stronger than stock springs. Are there any other parts that are needed to convert to a firmer feel? Firm Feel won't sell me the upgraded springs, and I read an old thread here that indicated that...
Have stock bars from original 318, which are 0.88" I believe. I'd like the next bigger bar, as currently I have a 400, and plan a 413 motor.
I have found A body bars. Are all bars the same dimension for the 63 era, except for diameter, in all cars? In other words, will an A body bar fit, B body...
Apologies in advance. I searched all threads. Do I attempt to prise out the center emblem, or turn horn ring. All original, shrunken plastic on upper wheel, but i don't want to damage.
