So I parked my road runner and all the cars on the street while I cleaned the garage floor today. It was hot, 110 or so. So when I started the road runner to bring it back into the garage the fuel gauge read 1/4 tank. It read full before I parked the car outside because I filled her up this...
So I converted the 69 440 to electronic ignition. With the point system it was at 17. What's a good number for the electronic ignition? It's a stock engine.
OK, I decided to convert the 69 road runner to electronic ignition. I got the Mopar (orange box) conversion kit and noticed there is NO voltage regulator. Hell there is no mention of one in the install instructions. So is it not required or do I need to order one? I have one on my 72 340...
Well I started the car for a Sunday show and it was excessive back firing thru the carb. I mean really bad. Looked at the plug wire positions on the distributor cap, they did not match the shop manual. The plug wires are in the position they were when I got the car two months ago. I moved all...
I need help with a voltage drop of 2.8 from the negative battery post to the wall behind the VR. HELP. I've cleaned the junction box, replaced both bat cables, did the charging system mod, replaced the ignition switch.
With the key on and car not running I read 12.36 volts at the blue wire to...
OK, on my 69 roadrunner wire diagram wire number W5A-12R runs from the ammeter to what I believe is a ground. Can someone please confirm and advise where this ground is located?
Well for those who followed my charging system journey know that's it's been a tough go. Well after many hours of wire fixing, new parts and more new parts, I finally got the road runner to pass the charging system electronic diagnostic test. All system pass but the test did indicate a VR low...
I have removed the IGN switch. I disconnected the blue wire at the VR. I'm trying to ring the wire out for resistance. It I touch one end of the wire with a lead and then the other lead to a good ground. Is that the correct process and what should I see as an Ohms level?
When I do the mod below, can I remove the old electrical lead from the alternator BAT post?
Wiring Upgrade
I have performed the following upgrade on my own charging system with good results. I chose to perform the upgrade this way because 1) it was easy and 2) it does not require cutting...
All,
The main thread is here. I have been chasing this fault for two very long weeks. It's hot (100+degrees in the garage) and I'm tired and damn near broke my budget.

OK, I finished replacing damn near everything in my charging system. Now for the third time I took the car to have the charging system tested and I got my third voltage regulator failure. :angryfire:
Any ideas or shortcuts I can take? I can not believe I got 3 bad regulators. I m not using the...
OK, I finally took the car out for little drive the other day. Everything seemed ok until I got home. I turned the car off, went to restart and it was graveyard dead.
So got another battery, the next day and she fired right up. I did a test with my hand held device and it said the battery was...
