After a long drive, car dead in driveway — No crank, no start, and checked battery cables. This happened a few months ago and checked connections with a test light and multimeter. I got frustrated and replaced ECU and car fired up and was fine for three months.
So tried the usual suspects again...
So I've recently made a few threads in regard to 15.5 voltage at the battery being too high and many great members here have helped me get past ground issues, resistance, etc.
However, during all of this, I stumbled on a 70 alternator/regulator training film here:
At this point in the video...
So, I've looked and looked and I see most posts mention that 14.8 is optimum. I recently added one of those ashtray USB ports with a volt display and it sits on about 15.2 to 15.5 volts at idle. It does not go up very much when I raise the RPM, and I have not taken it out for a drive, but I'm...
Sometimes I browse eBay for cars to see the condition, but this morning I found this ad:
1970 Plymouth Road Runner - PLUM CRAY PURPLE - 440 ENGINE - 4 SPEED MANUAL - | eBay
If you look at the full size photos, the bulkhead is turned? Never seen this before but I wonder if these people are on...
Wondering if this extra tab has power to connect an accessory. I see there is no corresponding top connection for a fuse. But wondering if this can be used with an inline fuse since it’s connected to the metal buss.
Thanks in advance!
So before rip apart the steering wheel to check turn signal switch, I was wondering if it makes any sense that today during a shakedown for toe in alignment/steering wheel centering, I’d been driving for about 20 minutes, and came to a stop. Put on the turn signal and the signal and radio went...
Checked and double checked grounds but each time I close my hood or go over a decent bump, the beep beep horn goes off. It’s a 70 road runner with all new wiring and an repop horn I got from year one.
Just driving me nuts since I’ve gotten just about all of the bugs out of the car.
Another...
So, I've been bugging Nacho and many others about the best way to use an ammeter with thicker wiring and bypassing the bulkhead, etc. -- I appreciate all of their help! But I also had an OER speedo fail after 90 miles so I really wanted to get that addressed since I had Redline redo my...
Does anyone know what the part number is for this part? I looked in the service manual and it is called an insert in the 70 diagram but in the parts book, it is not listed. Just the insert/bushing/spacer that fits into the mounting hole that is closest to the engine. I know I could use...
In my 70 RR, I have all new harnesses, new OER gauges, except the rebuilt speedo from Redline (just wanted to plug the awesome work), and a new PowerMaster 95 AMP alternator, new NAPA battery, new Voltage Regulator and a Voltmeter that I added under the dash.
I actually like seeing the Ammeter...
Not sure if this sounds obvious, but I installed all new m&h harnesses, new Oer gauges, new repro rallye circuit board, solid state limiter (5 years old), new fuses, new voltage regulator, ballast resistor, new ignition switch, nos signal switch, all mechanical switches in dash are restored...
If anyone has an idea why there is an inline fuse between the turn signal flasher connector and the flasher, I would appreciate any help. I'm replacing the wiring harness and wondering if I have not uncovered the reason yet. Not sure if there are LEDs somewhere I've not checked or if that...
So I've been doing lots of reading before I posted this and I found a few examples where people described connecting the wires that connect to the ammeter under the dash and shrink wrapping it. But I've also read where someone also rerouted the ammeter wires at the bulkhead or made a...
So I decided to restore my column and possibly change to power steering.
While disconnecting the two connectors that go to steering column, there is a white wire from the dash side of the two harness connectors that loops back and into the column so I need to figure out where it goes to get...
So I decided I’d change the cap, rotor, and wires on my 383 70 RR and realized that they were longer wires than normal. After looking around I figured out that they are the correct firing order but just starts two indexes on the cap from normal.
The car was upgraded at some point to electronic...
