    Mallory condensers

Doubt there's a good answer...so, I'll just rant!:D I've changed more condensers on my Mallory, that I care for. What the hell? (Yeah, some of you can go ahead, and laugh yer a$$ off!) Had just changed one bad one, for one of the four I had bought. Not even 200 miles on it, trip to the whiskey...

    64 fuel/temp gauge

64 Ply Sport Fury fuel/temp gauge...power on...temp gauge completely bottomed out to the left, fuel gauge moves completely to the right, to the stop, past the full mark. Sign of a bad voltage reducer?

    Dwell/tach gone south?

Just because it's 50+ years old? Dwell meter with leads together won't zero out. Or does it need volts to it? Been too dang long.

    Mallory comment

Or rant? Mallory dual point w/mechanical advance #2557801H. Found info stating if the H is in the #, simply means the distributor has YH type advance...the new, and improved?? Just commenting, on something I found, don't like, might or might not help others. My understanding is, there's other...

    Ignition condenser testing?

Is it possible to test condensers, using a digital multi-meter? If so, what would I be looking for? New Mallory #400 condensers came in, so would like to check them, against my old one. I am not any type of electrician, so asking for any help, to get through it. Thanks!

    A little puzzled

Not that big a deal, but maybe get an idea what to look for. It's on my 64 Sport Fury...the back-up lights. When I start the car, 727 trans in park, the back-up lights are on. As soon as I move the shifter, they go out, even back into park, they stay off. Yes, the lights work in reverse. A...

    Voltage Reducer question

Another, since I don't know. 64 panel, what is the condenser(?), that fits with the 12 volt leg, on the voltage reducer? Is it needed? Any way to check it? Installed my panel, went to hook up battery, only touched the positive cable, and...spark. Not good. Get to pull the panel again, and find...

    Initial Timing w/ today's gas

Just going to toss this out, since I've been out for awhile. Is 10-12* btdc good to go, for the first firing off? 440 w/ 10.1-1 compression, cam lift under .5. I've been wanting to ask, because of the crummy gas, these days, so... Seems alot of the guys are putting more in.

    Two questions

First is on the 64 instrument cluster voltage regulator. Classic has one listed, but for 66 and up, updated electronics. Any reason it won't work on my 64? Has anyone tried the one they have? Oops...that's two right there! Next, is on Mallory dual point condensers. (Before you get after...

    Fusible links...any opinions?

Or, is this a big can of worms! Just looking for opinions, good or bad, maybe even why. Considering 'em, the 16 gauge (Dorman), for 12 gauge wires. Yeah, on my parallel wiring job. Thanks in advance! Hey! Put that club down! Ha!

    Am I asking for trouble?

So, I need to ask. I'm not one who is very savvy on this electrical stuff, so my questions can probably sound a little lame. 64 Plymouth. Pretty much all the wire harnesses are stock, either new, or like the under the dash harness, I rebuilt. All the wiring is in good shape. But, though the...

    Too many amps?

Okay boys and girls...gonna show my hand here. Total ignorant when it comes to electrical stuff. But, from what I hear...gotta have it. Question is this. Have a 69 model 440 motor, in a 64 model Plymouth, with stock 64 wiring. Round back alternator that came on the 69 motor. Alternator was...

    Probably a dumb question

Or, why I'm not an electrician. Kinda hope someone can give me a why on this. Fooling with a couple fuel sending units, looking at ohms. I have two different Fluke multimeters, one a 12, the other a 77BN. The ohms scales are different between the two. The 12's basic range starts at 400...

    Stumped...kinda

Probably a good answer floating around somewhere. Yes, going to try researching, but I'll ask the dumb question anyway. 64 Plymouth, auto console shift. Question is on the back-up light switch wiring. Both in the diagram, and the wiring itself, the wiring for that switch (back-tracking)...

    Dumb coil question

I have one of Mopar's restoration coils, #1-02495531, that's listed for either point, or electronic ignitions. Also listed for 72 up (think that's right). Close enough. Question is...any reason I can't use this coil on a earlier set-up, using a Mallory dual-point. Hehe, years ignition are 64...

    Gotta ask a plug question

Since we're in the days of 'new and improved'. What is the opinions of Champion spark plugs these days? Still good to go? Don't have much thoughts on asian stuff. (I'm being nice on that) Fram filters are kaput, what about Champion?

I'm looking at both Classic Ind. harnesses for the engine compartment on my 64 Ply. Curious if anyone has tried any Classic harnesses.
