    Changing the roller cam paradigm?

I'm starting to see information about roller cams that contradicts what we've been told regarding oils and break-in procedures. As we've all heard by now, the benefit of rollers is no flat tappet-style break in, no zddp or special oils needed...but there's also been plenty of documented...

Weiand RB Engine Tunnel Ram Question

Can anyone tell me the differences between the #5987 and #1987 Hi-Rams? "I thought" the 5987 had slightly bigger ports but I'm not sure. Thanks!

Anyone here polish their as-cast intake manifold?

If so, I'm interested in your techniques/materials used and how it came out. I imagine they need to be sanded with various grits until smooth, and then worked over with the polishing wheel until shiny...but that's my vague vision and I'd love to hear details and results if anyone has any to...

    Does anyone make....

....a brake pedal pad that's worth a s**t? ('68 auto trans car pad in my case) I've had one on my car for about 6 years now (I think it was from Classic or the Year One) and it bugs me that it's always lifting off. It's like it's too soft or the lip that holds it on the pedal is too small. You...

Looking for some front end measurement help

Hi guys, I'm trying to determine the proper distance between the lower grille support mounting surfaces for a '68 Plymouth B-bod. Does anyone have a known good grille support to get a measurement from? Or possibly a '68 that has enough of the front pieces removed, to get the distance between...

    Pump/Pushrod Ponderings...

I saw another thread going about our fuel pump pushrods, and naturally there's folks responding with their own bad experiences and even some pictures of worn-down ends, but it got me thinking.... It just doesn't take a ton of force to move that fuel pump arm. You can hold a pump in one hand...

Ho-lee crap. At least I know my PCV works!

I posted earlier in the 'what did you do to your car today' thread that I installed a Moroso air-oil separator, in-line with my PCV. Ouch yeah it was spendy. Probably too fancy for my roadkill-before-it-was-cool '68. After seeing what it trapped after 3 drives, 27 total miles (One trip had...

    Just when everything's peachy...

A new problem rears it's head. What's happening is a momentary grinding/scraping sort of noise, ONLY under hard throttle. Driving normally it doesn't happen. If I leave with normal throttle, and then start to get on it hard after I'm moving, it does it. Cruising along at, say, 45mph and I womp...

Anyone else ever have this problem with TTI pipes?

Cracking. Starting right at the H-pipe crossover welds... Fiddlesticks! Poopdooty! Mutha*&@*#$! Only have about 3000 miles on them. Those are their factory-welded joints. The exhaust is hung with flexible straps just behind the mufflers, and rubber isolators near the exits, so the...

Not like it's a hard to find part...

...but anyone need a new-in-box '69/up NSS? Never installed NAPA unit. If so PM me and I'll drop it in the mail this week. Free:)

Can the converter cause engine to shake?

Is this possible? My engine sometimes gets a more-than-normal shake, at idle in gear, foot off the gas in forward or reverse. Some throttle and it smoothes out. After things get heated up it doesn't seem to happen. Two different engine builds, different carbs at various mixture settings...

    Break-in update...

Good news first. I got things assessed and determined that the oil pressure gauge hose was definitely the cause of the fire. I will replace the engine and light harnesses, but the outer wrap was all that was destroyed in a few spots. After careful examination none of the wires had insulation...

Rebuild break-in. Didn't go well. (Long read sorry)

First attempt, cranking the engine resulted in nothing. Double checked distributor and plugs/wires, gas in carb. Tried again, cranked more than I would like but started, revs quickly got up to over 2000 then it died. Waited and tried again...this time gas began overflowing out of the secondary...

    (Another)Shout Out For Mike B. @ B3 Racing..

Got his geometry correction setup a few weeks back. Many here know it but I'll say it again..Great guy to deal with and talk to. Did some mock-up, the proof's in the puddin'.... The 'before' sweep pattern- The 'after'.. Fat-finger-drawn lines to check intake valve at half-lift. This was...

    Head scratch..

Hi guys. So, in the process of mocking stuff up and moving things around I ended up with a small scuff mark on one of the aluminum heads. It's not real deep or nasty, but you can feel it. It's between two cylinders. The heads have already been done, milled, etc, I had pushrods made, everything...

    Auto-Meter

I just read where our friend 'slepr1' posted a thread about some good service with B&M, so I felt I should share this...a few months ago I bought an Auto-Meter 'Street Tach' from Amazon, it was discounted over 50% because of 'damaged packaging'(according to Amazon). It was in perfect condition...

    Steer&Gear feel options?

Hi guys, looking for some input from anyone that's used Steer and Gear for a new/rebuilt power steering box, and which level of stiffness you have? They list four options: stock(no thanks), then modern, sport, and rally being the stiffest. I'm leaning toward the 'modern' but is it enough of a...

    Anyone use 'Maxima' brand oil?

A performance engine builder I know uses it in all his builds and recommended it for the older stuff. Said he used to use Penn or Gibbs one of the two but has been using the Maxima for the last 3-4 years with very good results. He's done some sweet mopar & new hemi builds but he's mostly chevy...
