Can someone remind me what the backward letter "R" stands for on VIN fender tag number 2? This is a 72 Charger Rallye. There is nothing else on the second tag. Thanks.
Good morning: I am replacing my front bumper on a 71 Charger. Looks like a few of the attachment points for the bumper are so far to the right or left that I might have to remove the fender to access them? That does not seem right to me. I am probably missing something here. Can anyone who has...
Where on the radiator support would one find the VIN stamp? Is it on the top? Or one of the vertical front or back sides? Anyone have a nice photo of theirs for a 1971 B-body that they can share? I am having a tough time locating mine and wonder if the radiator support was changed after an...
I have the original build sheet and the dash vin tag for my 1971 Charger. The fender tag was discarded long ago. I want to replace it. Who does that kind of work these days?
Thanks.
Good morning all: The following 3 photos are the right side valve cover on my 1971 440 RT. Does this valve cover look correct to you for 1971? I am wondering about the tabs (which appear to be for plug wires) at the rear on top of the cover, and on the side of the cover near the intake manifold...
Thanks for all the valve cover responses yesterday re gaskets. Here is a related question: My valve covers use a bolt to secure them to the head. I believe the factor had studs coming out of the head (1/4") to accept the gasket and valve cover nut. Anyone know the length of the stud?
Thanks!
The cork gaskets on my 71 440 are shot and seeping around some of the bolt holes. Probably have not changed them in 15 years. Should I stick with cork or try something else like rubber? What are people using these days? Thanks!
Good evening all:
1971 440 non- AC manual transmission. Replacing my thermostat. Have not pulled it from the motor yet. 160 or 180 degrees? Some other temperature? Thanks!
I have some blemishes/scratches on my wheels and I am trying to find some good spray paint to repair them. Any suggestions? Classic Industries has some Argent Silver that looks close. Is that the right color? Anyone used that paint? Any other suggestions for a paint source? thanks!
Anyone change the clutch pedal spring lately in their 4-speed Dodge or Plymouth? I'm talking about the spring inside the car. The big one that attaches to the pedal. I would like to know the best way to go about it without breaking something. If you have some tips or know of a video on the...
Good evening all:
Quick question: I saw a dashboard online today of a 1973 Charger with a four speed. It had the usual dash-mounted reverse light between the ashtray and the glove box. But it also had another identical light assembly right next to it, too. It looked like it had two reverse...
I have heard that you can find some VIN numbers or something stamped on the cowl of the Chargers in 1971 ? Is that true? Anyone have a sample of what it looks like or precisely where to find it? What, exactly would be stamped there? Thanks!
Good morning: I am replacing my 26" radiator in a 71 440 non-AC Charger (manual transmission). The new radiator is a factory type. Any suggestions as to the coolant/water mixture when I refill? If it matters, I live in a dry climate with hot temps in the summer and mild the rest of the year...
Good morning: I have a 1971 Charger RT with a 440. Looking to replace the shocks which are 30+ years old. Any suggestions on brands you have used and like? Thanks!
