So it turns out that when my harmonic balancer went bad, the bolt holes were worn, so the bolts weren't staying in, caused the spun bearing in the main cap. The connecting rods were not damaged. I was able to find a 400 block for $200 which is better than having my block repaired. Still gonna...

how involved is it to replace the oil sending unit on a 383?

well...WAS going to a cruise in, but there was a nice puddle of oil on the garage floor. i am pretty sure its the front crank seal. was about 1.5 qts low, but have been running her pretty good, hard launches etc. can that cause the seal to go?:eek:

I have a 383 w/ ported 906 heads. What header gaskets should i use. The car sounds like a sewing machine at soft idle, when i punch it i hear all motor. I checked the bolts and they're tight...i've heard of copper ones being good. I currently have aluminum ones.

i am swapping my 727 trans out of my 71 Satty w/ a 383, and 8 3/4 rear. The car it is coming from is a 71 charger big block, with a A833 4spd trans and 8 1/4 rear. What modifications have to be done to either driveshaft, as he is giving me his. Thanks, Ivan

The 71 Satty I just bought has a holley 750, but there's no choke, and it's hard to keep it running when cold start.. What are my options..forgive me if this is a simple answer..not that mechanically inclined..
