Believe or not I have the same headlights in my 68 GTX that were there when I bought it in 1971. Some of you know the story of how I've owned the car for 46 years now - and just recently restored it. One thing that never dawned on me was the headlights - until I went to drive it at night. As you...
Guys - I'm a little confused on something I had a motor head tell me the other day that original six pack set up for a roadrunner was not the holly carbs with the edlebrock intake. Can someone clear this up for the sake of discussion? He told me mine which are the above brands were aftermarket...
Was cruising just fine and suddenly the car died. Tried to start it in 95 heat. Wouldn't barely turn over again. Caught a tow home - thank God my insurance was effective today. Got the car home okay - tried to jump it and after letting it charge for awhile it turned over fine. It's not getting...
Some of you know I've had this 68 GTX for 45 years since I was 18 years old. Drove fast and loose for 10 years than moved to join corporate America. Stored the car in various places for 35 years as I traveled the country for work and the world for pleasure. Always in the back of my mind was...
I've got a question for all you wizards out there. I'm not complaining but it just seems odd to me that my 440 stroked recently to 494 runs at about 135*. It's got a 180 thermostat in it and I've checked the temperature at the radiator and it doesn't seem to get hotter than that. My gauge only...
Yeah - it's me again! The GTX turns over fine when totally cold. I tested the battery. Had to replace the "new alternator". Car turned over fine and started this morning. Took it for a 15 mile spin (first one in 35 years). Came back turned it off and it now it won't start again. It barely turns...
Guys, I need some help. I just finished with the restoration of my 68 GTX. The car had the steering box rebuilt. Sent back for a second look cause it was tight enough. I got the car back and had the front end re-aligned. Thought I could have the steering gear tightened up because it's still way...
Can any of your brothers out there that have a 68/69 GTX/RR give me the exact length and exact width of the car. I'm trying to figure out if my 68 GTX will fit in my garage this spring when I bring her home to CA.
i just have an average 2 car garage that has to fit two cars and I know these are...
Does anyone have or know where I can get a few window clips that hold down the stainless trim that goes on the rear windshield for a 68 GTX. I had a couple that broke and the trim won't stay down.
Believe it or not this is the last stop of my resto for my 68 GTX. A flipping window clip! Pls...
I bought a wonderful 68 GTX back in 1972. My first car. It wasn't perfect but it was my car. I treated it like a baby and whooped it at the same time. I lived in Minnesota but the X never saw a winter. I stored it when life got in the way and I traveled the country on business, lived in many...
I'm in the market for a new battery. I've been sorely disappointed in the ones I've purchased for the family cars. I'm looking for a good power plant for a 68 built 440. I've read a bit on Interstate batteries and have heard they are very reliable and good for the beasts we drive.
Does anyone...
Anyone know a good reliable source to restore 50 year old head light bezels. Not to bad - just worn and pitted from road use over the years. I've seen some Nos for prices I wouldn't pay. So I'm looking at restoration - and hopefully something g more reasonable.
Any FBBO Bro know the source?
Okay I did the search as I know, this was a topic not too long ago - no results came up. Probably operator error.
At any rate can I get some response on the best/right car cover to buy for my newly painted GTX. It's going to be kept in a garage but as you know they become dust and dirt magnets...
Can someone with a 68 GTX/RR/Satellite provide a closeup pic of the fender bullets on mounted on top of their fenders. I don't remember which way the turn signals canted and a quick pic and which side of the car taken will tell me all I need to know. The lights/bullets are side specific.
Thx...
I'm ready to jump off a ledge - how the heck do you get the lens out of the turn signal fender bullets for a 67/68/69 GTX?
i broke one off before I realized there was an Allen screw that kept it tight. Now I'm dealing with getting the base of the plastic lens out of the bullet. It doesn't screw...
I installed sub frame connectors in my 68 GTX. They're bolted in vs. welded (thankfully). The motor was out of the car at the time of installation. I thought I read somewhere on FBBO that sub frames are one of the last things you should do - at least until you have all the weight together that...
I've owned this Warrior for 42 years - since I was 18 y.o. I drove it for 7 years and made a few changes as you can see - i.e the Six Pack set-up mostly which was not correct until 69 - But I loved it that way and am a build em like you like em guy vs. pure stock. I joined corporate America...
I'm in the middle of my 68 GTX restoration. I've stroked the 440 to a 494. Hp is now 555. I put a torque strap on the right side - my dumb question is - do you put them on both sides or is the right sufficient? That's where I kept breaking the mounts.
Any sage advice would be much appreciated!
