1968 Dodge Coronet HOT ROD 500

About this Mopar:

I always loved Coronets since I was a kid, especially 68’s. Back in 81 when I was a kid, my neighbor Wade had a silver 68 500 with a 383 and duel 4’s on a high rise sticking out of the hood. He was always blasting it up and down the road. A year later I heard he went to jail for something. It ended up sitting in his parents garage for the next few years. I started delivering newspapers and every day I would walk up that driveway and see the drivers side tail light through the man door. (It was one of them old garages with sliding wood doors and a man door in the centre to get in.) Anyway, everyday I would see that car peeking out at me. His younger brother Kirk had a plum crazy Demon and would sell me his ol' CARtoons magazines. (Anyone remember those?) LOL... But if he or his parents weren't home, I would sneak a peek into the garage. It was so awesome, big fat buns on the back, skinnies up front, sitting on Cragar SS's, jacked up, but the 383 was out and sitting on the floor behind it. I used to sit in it and dream of sometime owning it. A few years later it was gone and it broke my heart not seeing it there anymore. By the time I was 16 I had located it again, but this time it didn't look so cool. The mags we gone and it was sinking into the side lawn where it was parked. I still loved the car and found out Wade still owned it, but it wasn't for sale. Then shortly after that it disappeared. 20 some years later, I heard through the grapevine after buying mine, that it was parked out at his grand mothers house. I was pretty excited cause I always wondered what became of it. So I drove out there to see, but this time it was really bad. Looked like some one used a bull dozer to push it beside a shed. The drivers side door was pushed in along with the windshield pillar, and the rest of the car was completely stripped. Although the frame and floors looked really solid. I went back a couple months ago and it has disapeared again. Oh well, I found mine and am loving it. It's completely old school with alot of 80's mods. Just the way I like it. I picked mine up over Christmas 2006.

Great photos Jeff! Funny, I used to own a Vette too! A red 1980 with a 350/auto. 3.73's in the rear meant she had a lot of snort in the short runs!
I have to post recent pics of mine, I got it running on July 7th, but I lurched ahead , the engine hoist was still attached to the rear after installing the sure-grip and the exhaust, and the hoist fel on the roof pillars, bent them, and blew out the rear window! OMG. I was bummed out, but I located another glass, and still hard at work. Talk to you later!

Hey Buddy... you should post the pics with the new mags on her... such an awesome car!
