About this Mopar:
In 1969 I owned an awesome 1966 Satellite, I was 18, it was yellow with painted black top. 383 two barrel motor with 4 speed, 3:23 sure grip. The car had about 20K miles when I bought it for $1800 and all I did was change the wheels to a set of Cragars and drop the front torsion bars a little.
In 1971 I bought the motor out of a 1969 Roadrunner that had been wrapped around a telephone pole. I installed the 383 magnum with a hotter cam that came from the Hustle Stuff catalog from the local Plymouth dealer, Edelbrock intake, and set of headers. Changed the ring and pinion to a 3:91, removed the console and installed a Hurst shifter. The H60/14 rear tires did not last long on that car. After getting married and the first daughter came along, I sold the car to my best friend at the time, who proceeded to destroy it. The car ended up with a very damaged left rear quarter panel and was sold to a fellow that turned it into a dirt track car. I was told he installed a auto trans, not sure what happened to the magnum motor. I was told after its life on the track ended, it went to a crusher. So forty years later I have another 66 Satellite, 273 motor, auto trans, runs good sounds good, gets me to the local in-n-out burger in fine style, and turns a lot of heads on the way. Thanks to my wife of 40 years, for my anniversary present.
