The 1st two photos from 76 gas station is most recent, no markings and he said it was a Satellite. He did have 400 hood stickers modified to 408 and a GTX on the rear years ago when I first saw it parked at the tire shop, the other photos.
You car looks very good. Love the 71-72. Plymouth was going to make a Super Bird out of this body. You can actually see Richard Petty's wind tunnel test on a proto type. This car was so fast that it was ruled out of racing.
I get a lot of people ask me what the difference between a Roadrunner and a Satellite is?
First, A Roadrunner IS a Satellite. The bodies are the same. The Difference between models comes down to the standard features. Here it is by first two letters of the VIN.
RL- R means Satellite, L means LOW cost. These were 225 or 318, manual shift cars with very few standard features.
RH- R means Satellite, H means HIGH cost. These were Satellite Sebring with more standard features.
RM- R means Satellite, M means medium cost. There were Roadrunners. More performance items and less other options.
RP- R means Satellite, P means Premium cost. These were Sebring Plus with the highest cost with lots of standard features and most other features are available. The SSP could be ordered with all the options available during that year. These were the most equipped Satellite of the year.
RS-R means Satellite, S means Special. Prior to 1972. GTX A Satellite with a lot more Performance options.
Your car looks very good.
So Any Satellite is a beautiful car. You turn it into what your desire is. Everyone represents the owners love.
