1979 Special Edition 300

About this Mopar:

Touted as the fastest production automobile for 1979, the Chrysler 300 came with the same 360-4barrel engine that was offered in the Dodge Lil' Red Express Truck in 1978! This specific car was originally given away on air as a radio promotion in Boston for 107.3 WAAF!

The Chrysler 300 (A74 Code) was a high performance option for the Cordoba platform in ‘79. In all, Chrysler slated a limited number of 5,500 built to order, there were only 3,811 Chrysler300′s built that year for U.S. sales. Very nearly all were painted Spinnaker White with Red Corinthian leather interior and a small handful painted Red.

The 360 cubic inch “Hi-Po” V8 engine (E58 code) with a 4bbl carburetor the engine pushed out a respectable 195 horsepower, not bad for 1979. Backing up the power plant is the trusty A727 torqueflite automatic transmission, and 9 ¼” rear differential. The A74 code also includes heavy duty suspension borrowed from Chrysler’s police package, front and rear oversized sway bars, HD Monroe shocks, and dual exhaust.

On the outside, the special order Chrysler 300 exterior trim includes a 300 styled cross bar grill, a 300grill medallion, 300 badges in the taillights, front header trim, 300 script in opera style windows, special white bumper rub strip inserts, front fender louvers and special red and blue pinstripe. The highly desirable and collectible Chrysler 300's are heavily laden with chrome and stainless trim and the tasteful factory red and blue pinstripe against the White Spinnaker canvas and alloy wheels and raised white letter tires gives this car a lot of eyeball appeal.

Inside the cockpit, the pilot is treated to form fitting factory leather bucket seats, reclining passenger seat, spacious center console, sport steering wheel and automatic shift on the floor. The 300 badges on the door panels, the “Three Hundred” red, white and blue plaque on the passenger side dash panel and the machined metal instrument gauge and console surround compliment the layout of the gauges which beyond the mandatory fuel, oil, alternator, and speedometer also includes a 7000 rpm tachometer!

Other factory features with this amazing automobile include: Power steering, power front disk brakes andrear drum, factory air conditioning, electric wipers/wash, day/night rear viewmirror, color-keyed red carpet, cigarette lighter, Chronometer digital clock and much more.
