Finished valve train
About this Mopar:
Making witness marks on the valve stems using a magic marker. Top line is where the rocker starts, valve closed. Bottom mark is when the valve is fully open.
Checking geometry. This is in fully open position.
I opted to use spacers and not springs. Took a little longer to do but I won't have to worry about them moving. I think it was .005 clearance between the rockers. Had to trim the hold downs too to center the rockers just right.
A checking pushrod is a must!
Preload needs to be figured in when ordering pushrods if you're useing hydraulic lifters.
I ordered my pushrods from Smith Brothers.
I took an old distributor, drilled out the terminals, timed it up to the dampner on compression stroke. Takes the guesswork out of telling when both valves are closed.
