Major maintenance, some upgrades and changes for the RR/GTX this off-season. 15 years now since this car was fully restored, with 13k miles driven. Most everything has held up well, some things not so much or just bug me. Starting with the front end, poly bushings on the upper Just Suspension control arms make too much noise at low speed. Replacing with Firm Feel tubular running replaceable rubber bushings. Opted to stay poly on the LCA pivots but went with ProForged greaseable bushing/pin set. Replacing the Firm Feel stage 2 PS gear box with a Borgeson box kit from Bergman Auto Craft. New brake pads and rotors with longer wheel studs to allow for a possible wheel change in the near future. Replacing the KYBs with Bilstein’s.
With the column out, good time to restore the cluster properly. I had opted to skip a full cluster resto when putting the car back together back in ‘09, thinking I would address it later. Speedo started making noise, had to be disconnected, time to address the cluster. Have collected quite a few Rallye clusters and parts over the years. Sorted through the best parts for resto. Sent off a speedo and a tach to Shannon at Redline Gauge Works for tach conversion and restoration. Calibrated and restored the remaining gauges using my newly built C-3826 resistor pack, always wanted to build one of those. Some other misc electrical tweaks/additions for the dash while the cluster is out.
Next up, that noisy Mosher 60. It’s been loud under light load since it was un-crated and bolted in. It makes freeway driving uncomfortable at best. At the time Mosher said it would quite down, that didn’t happen. Plan to pull it and go through it myself, that will include a gear change from 3:73 to 3:54.
