I wanted to build a car I could drive across the country with, but still had the power to have fun with. Like most things I am on the way there bout have not made it quite yet.
About this Mopar:
My set up starts with a 1969 Dodge Coronet with a Superbee stripe, Badging and an a12 hood. Now that we have that out in the open.... I stiffened up the car with front and rear torque boxes and subframe connectors. It has a 1976 440 with a 512 stroker 440 source kit with the 440 source Stealth heads, 1.5 PQx Platinum Series Shaft Bushing Roller Tip Stainless Steel rocker arms and a .525 231/237 on 110 cam ended up right around 10.25:1 also added the 7 quart oil pan. Fired by the Holley Hyperspark ignition system set at 14deg initial and 34deg all in by 3000 rpm working with a Holley sniper stealth EFI using an old school edelbrock torker single plane intake, I went with the single plane because I wanted the better fuel atomization and increased higer rpm torque. The fuel is fed by a Tanks INC intank electric pump and EFI tank and everything is kept cool by the COLDCASE Radiator and dual electric fans set to kick in at 180 with a 170 thermostat I have full Length TTI headers & TTI 2 1/2 X-pipe exhaust system with Dynaflo super turbo mufflers. I chose to wrap my headers to reduce engine bay temps and increase the scavenge effect for increased HP. I dynode at 530ish hp and just under 600FBT but I carry upper 500's FBT fbt from 3000 to 5700 rpm though my 18 spline 4 speed. The Mcleod 3 tab High presser clutch is operated by the American powertrain hydraulic clutch kit and held safe inside the Lakewood scatter shield. With 3.54 gears in the 8 3/4 with a sure grip and green bearings turning 28 inch tires running hard I can get rubber into 3rd gear (Street tires). I have the Caltrac's traction system that has helped me launch straight on street tires and considerable tire spin through 2nd gear and into 3rd. I keep track of the Vitals on my Dakota Digital RTX Rallye dash and sniper EFI interface screen. Have also added all new brake system front disc, rear drum, new lines, new master and booster. Replaced the entire wiring harness with a painless wiring system harness. Installed the one wire conversion box on the original alternator, put full poly bushings in the front end. Lastly I found a set of old school aluminum slots. I ran out of summer to drive it a whole bunch I was only able to get 700 or so miles on it up to this point.
This winters upgrades are a dual disk clutch setup (even with the hyd slave its like kicking a rock to work the 3 tab clutch, gets to be a pain in traffic) also going to splurge for a gear vendors overdrive. I am running about 3000 rpm at 60mph and have half hour to 45 min drive to get anywhere would like to calm it down a little. My car is a driver a super nice 10 footer no rust but not concourse paint. I am as happy as a person could be with where it is now and where we are going.
