John's 1964 Polara 500

About this Mopar:

Pulled out of a barn 20 plus years ago, where it had spent a number of years.
It was restored in the late 80's for my friends daughter to commute to High School.
Lacking power steering it did not last long as a teenage girls vehicle and was set aside for something more practical.
He offered it to me and it came home on a trailer and the fun and expense began.
It shows well for a 30 year old restoration and the 426 street wedge is responsive.
Anniversary gold with a white roof, Anniversary Gold was a one year only color.
After 20 plus years it is pretty well sorted out and fun to drive.
I have to give a special thanks to my friend Ron who talked me into this project.
He was there and took the lead on most of the work.
Photographs by a retired G.M. neighbor.

This picture and comment is every reason I love old mopars. I’m only 30 years old, but I always feel like these cars connect me with a time thay was better and different than today.

Very nice! Polara 500 right?
Just like coronet500 replied, I too owned one in high school. Black with black interior, Crager SS all around. What a sharp car with all of the chrome.

Great job from another John:thumbsup:

nice ride,my high school days were all about my polara 500. my best memories and my biggest regret was getting rid of it.

what a beautiful ride. it has to be a great driven love the detail, the color is great and the tires and wheel combo just makes a great fit. its a great ride enjoy it

Great car. Mine is nearly done. Won't be as perfect as your but it is a street/race car.

The car that made a Coronet 500 the intermediate model. I love those old Polaras, ESPECIALLY convertibles!

That is a really beautiful car, unfortunately with a really bad shoulder I would never be able to drive it. I have a buddy with a 67 Coronet RT with manual steering and he has a really tough time trying to get in and out of tight spots and if he has a tough time I would never be able to do it. Beautiful car, thanks anyway but going to have to pass

Well, naturally I like the car. I got my drivers license in a 1964 Dodge Polara. It was a 4 door sedan. Last year I acquired this one.. same color as the car I got my license in 50 years earlier.

Love your Polara John. '64 Polara & '65 Belvedere have always been my two favorite cars. Best wishes to you and yours!
