LeesRT - Lee's 1969 Charger R/T, 440, 4-speed, F6, V21 car.

Photos of my passion for all things Mopar and 1969 Charger R/T.

About this Mopar:

I bought my 1969 Charger R/T on July 26, 1983 when I was 16 years old. I used all of my lawn mowing money ($1700.00) to purchase it. It was my daily driver from 1983 to 1990. In 1990, I parked it as life happened (got married, had kids, 8 years of college, jobs, career, etc.). My kids are now grown up, and it's time for me to get back to my car. I bought lots of stuff for this car over the years. My car was missing the original power train. I discovered it had a 23 spline 4-speed instead of an 18 spline 4-speed and an 8-3/4 rear end instead of the Dana. I have since picked up a couple of E440HP engines (1969), a few 18 spline Hemi 4-speeds (one of which is out of another 1969 Charger R/T), and a couple of 3.54 geared Dana 60s. I have lots of extra grille parts, tail lights, and trim pieces as well. I picked up a console and original 4-speed shifter that it was missing as well. I found the broadcast sheet, and I've decoded it. I found that I have a rare option called the V21 hood performance treatment option. It's also a mid-year color called F6 Spring Green. My plans for the car are to do an "old school" build. It will look mostly stock body wise, with the exception of wheels and tires. No 22" wheels for this guy. I will run it like I ran it in the 1980s. 15" 50 series tires in the rear and 14" 50 series tires in the front. I will do some modern upgrades to make it more enjoyable to drive. Disc brakes all around, a Passon gear set for the 4-speed to make 4th an overdrive, new technology suspension to make it handle better, electrical upgrades, 500-600 HP from the engine, and other safety items. I want to enjoy driving this safely. I recently contacted the previous owner ( of which I haven't talked to in 34 years) in hopes of getting some history and previous owner information on the car. I also asked if he happened to know where the original engine, trans, and rear were for the car. He said he'll have to do some research, but that he may actually know where all of the original components are. We will see. If not, I have stuff to put it back to the way it should be. I'm also a CNC programmer and CNC machinist. I combined my passion for Mopars and CNC machining by making signs for my shop. I hope to someday do this as part of a new business that I'm putting together. I've been in touch with Chrysler for licensing and can have the contract signed when my shop is ready to go. That's my story so far.

Great color! Love most Mopar colors but are drawn to the out of the ordinary ones always. Your story is a great one! Hope you find the original drivetrain as that would be tops! Enjoy your resto dude!

Hey Lee! Enjoyed the pic's in the garage ,and the Charger. Have a '66 383 4bbl to get started on as soon as I finish our "company car" FFR Cobra for our business. Have seen cnc plans on internet and thought of making one to do more for the rooms. I have made a lot of car emblems, from wood, but am looking for an easier and quicker way. Lot to list, if you have facebook you can go to our site to see. Can you tell me if you know better than I have found online? Yours look GREAT! Hope to paint the Cobra this summer but that is also our busiest time, especially since we got on Motor Week T/V. Cobra has 347 stroker ,5spd and right at 500 h/p. Right now we only do donuts in the parking lot lol. Wish I could have found a '69, hard to find parts for mine! Great car! Look us up at Gear Head Inn in the Great Smokey Mtns.

Looking forward to seeing the 66 Charger as well.

Nice story and it is nice to have a hobby. I love working on mine and it's like a therapy session, driving is one of the rewards too! I like the color of yours.

HI Lee, My first ride in a fast car was a dark green, black vinyl top, 440/4speed, 69 RT Charger, up in the Bay Area. Any chance your car is front N. California??

Lee, Also my first race in the car was against the rivals school hot chevy's. They were cousins in school. One had a blue 69 SS Chevelle and the other had a very built 69 Green Camaro 396. We raced the Camaro and wiped their butt....

My car is from Northern California. I don't know the exact town, but it's been in the Paradise, Chico, Willows, and Redding California area for a good 40 years.

I like hearing old stories like this. I may have some to post later. I recently contacted the previous owner of my car. I haven't talked to him since 1983 (when I bought the car). He was blown away that the car was still around. He still has lots of Mopars. His recent purchase is a 1969 Charger R/T, 426 hemi, 4-speed, & dana body. It's missing the original engine though. He also told me that he may know where my original power train is. I'm waiting for what he find on that.
