my latest mopar - 72 Charger

About this Mopar:

I recently bought this car, it called to me and I could not resist. This car was originally a 340 auto car and now has a 440 with a big mechanical cam and upgraded auto transmission. The previous owner did a lot of work on the interior replacing seat skins and the dash. Since making my purchase I have added a 6 Pak to make this a tribute to the car that never was. Only 3 or so were produced before production was shut down, despite the options being in the order sheet and the consumer sales brochures. This car had a racing history from the east coast and the original owner removed a lot of under hood equipment which I am in the process of replacing.
Anyway it is my project to finish. I have to add back the ECS system and the windshield washer system, the brakes need attention, I want to replace the 4.10 rear gears, add vintage type Polyglass tires and reinstall all of the exterior emblems. I have already added hood pins. So here are some before pictures. I will update with after pictures later in the summer.

I recently bought and installed the original emblems on the car. C pillar, trunk and and new 6 Pack emblem for the hood. I removed the chrome trim from the leading edge of the hood because I did not like the look of it. I sourced and installed a correct 4 port charcoal canister along with my new custom license plate. The only remaining under hood part I am waiting for is the windshield washer bottle I ordered from Laysons. I have numerous decals to install in the next round along with the 6 Pack. I am waiting for cooler weather to do the decals and 6 Pack swap. My vision of a 72 tribute 6 Pack car is coming together. In the fall I will add another touch, Goodyear Polyglass G-60 15s all around. I love the vintage look of these tires.

I also added hood pins because I like the look of them and I wanted to get rid of the head knocking safety catch. It already drew blood so it had to go........

Look's like a straight body. Your going to bring it back to original is grate. Wish you the best of luck with it. It is a plus with the 440 motor. More power. Will be looking for pic's as you come along with it. Have fun.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

The car in these pictures is exactly how I bought it. I asked the previous owner if the bumpers came on the car when he bought it a decade ago and he said they did. I have pictures of its racing days in the 1970s and the bumpers are on it then also. I can only assume it came from the factory this way.

Mine is similar with the canopy roof, bulge hood, and door depressions. They only made a handful of Rallye's, and mine has the numbers matching 340.
