I found some extra time and decided to work on diagnosing a binding in the steering wheel. I popped the housing off and found my steering lock plate (saw blade looking part) was coming in contact with the internals.
My first thought to fix this was to pop the retainer sleeve off the lock plate and punch the pin out but that would mean the lock plate is at its maximum allowed distance from everything inside the column. The lock plate doesn’t come any closer towards me so my guess is the pin is in. This makes me think there is an issue within one of the sleeves like a missing spacer or something similar.
Has anyone encountered this issue before?
