Has anyone put the 2 piece strut rod bushings on the stock '62 strut rod arms?

The '62 service manual shows the 1 piece design on the left. With the sleeve I bet the later design may work better. Even though I asked for the bullet shape, PST sent the others. I will keep them and intall them if they will fit.....

Thanks for any insight.

Put O.E.M. one piece in my wagon, one split after about 6 weeks, the reason being that they were 40 + yrs old.I have two piece in now only because I had them or I would have used new one piece bushings. One piece worked for decades, only drawback is they can be a pain to install, make sure you lube them well.

Thanks buddy - yea old NOS rubber parts - not such a good thing. Bought some NOS rubber wiper blades, good thing she doesn’t go out in the rain. I will say one thing, this PST “PolyGraphite” is some tough material - dense and slippery. PST does have the bullet shape strut rod bushings in the “PolyGraphite” too they told me.

Lookin’ forward to tearing into the front suspension with the PST parts, and .92 diameter Mopar Performance torsion bars waiting. One thing about our wagons, lots of storage in back for new parts. Don’t know if I can wait for the time off over the holidays.

Have you bought the .92 torsion bars yet? I have some with 1000 mi on them and will be swapping for larger diameter in a few months

Which size you going to? I have my .92 bars out and am planning on .96 bars. But not sure if i should go bigger.

I have a '68 Sport Satellite small block car. When I bought the car it had .088" t-bars. I put in some new .092" bars and while they were better, the improvement in firmness and handling was not as much as I'd hoped. I think with the small block I would have liked .096" bars better, although the .092's aren't that bad.

In the next few months the car will have a big block though, so I plan on up-sizing the T-bars again. I plan on going to 1.0" bars. I'm no expert in this matter, but I think for a big block street car .096" bars are the minimum for me now, 1.0" bars will be better for my taste, and if you go to a 1.03" it would be the most I'd go for a street car. Much bigger than that and you probably should be focusing on track use. Again, my car is a '68, so your mileage may vary depending on wheelbase length and vehicle weight.

Remember that every .004" increases the spring rate and bar stiffness more than you think. So a 1.00" bar is no-where near as firm as a 1.03" bar.

.92 Dia T-bars and new rear springs all in and really like the improvement in ride quality.

I put the single bullet shaped poly strut rod bushings in there from PST, correct for ’62. But the threads bottom out way before the 40ft lbs of torque specified.

What came out of there was an hour-glass shaped single piece, and actually hollow!

But the 2pc that PST sent with the sleeves do not fit my wagons .72 dia strut rods. The Moog K7039's with .714 ID are correct, and Firm Feel confirmed that. Will mount them with the convex side of the washers against the bushings.......

70 GTX with a 440..... Just finished my car's suspension. I bought everything from Firm Feel, replaced EVERYTHING (minus the center link). My car also was not a sway bar car (it is now, front and rear and the level 3 steering box). I went with the 1.06 T-bars. I was a little worried that it may be too stiff..... its not at all. My 2013 4X4 2500 HD Denali pickup is stiffer than my car. And handling...... Man, it handles GREAT!!!! I look forward to taking corners with it now. Firm Feel is an awesome company that sells quality stuff. HIGHLY recommend!! Dick at Firm Feel knows his stuff!!!
