Some highlights:

91. 1978 Dodge Challenger: A Mitsubishi Galant coupe wears the name of a muscle car legend. The top engine? A 2.6-liter four making — GACK! — 105 hp. The base 2.0-liter puked out only 77 ponies.

71. 1980 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Turbo: Replacing the T/A's beloved 400-cubic-inch V8 with a turbocharged and carbureted 301-cube version wasn't a good idea. It was a slow grenade.

70. 1953 Chevrolet Corvette: A fiberglass body atop an archaic chassis powered by a lame 155-hp six. And the transmission was a two-speed automatic. The first Corvette was crap.

64. 1983 Plymouth Caravelle: A stretched K-Car that no one noticed when it was in production and no one misses today. Plain in every way, it's the most boring car ever made.

42. 2006 Dodge Caliber SRT-4: Lesson in how to build a bad performance car, start with a bad car. Replaced the wonderful Neon SRT-4, but it was too big and too ugly. Completely undesirable despite its turbocharged 285 hp.

28. 1976 Dodge Aspen/Plymouth Volare: At Chrysler's nadir, it built these strictly conventional compact cars that are nonetheless terribly built and rust-prone. Subject to a long series of recalls.

5. 1971 Chevrolet Vega: An engine that couldn't hold oil, in a car built with contempt for its buyers. It's the car that invited Americans to buy Toyotas and Hondas. However, it did make a good Pro Stock racer.

4. 1987 Yugo: A Serbian-made version of the Fiat 127 that couldn't possibly be as awful as its low price suggested. But it was! Currently celebrating its 25th anniversary as shorthand for automotive crap.

3. 1955 BMW Isetta: Originally designed by Italy's Iso, BMW built the atrocious, single-cylinder 12-hp, one-door Isetta for 7 years. Parked nose-in to a wall, the door wouldn't open. The whole car was a crumple zone.

2. 1974 Ford Mustang II: Built upon the spindly bones of the Pinto, this shrunken, malformed pony is instantly appalling to Mustang lovers. And, unfortunately, hugely popular with buyers stuck with serial fuel crises.

Worst Car of All Time, Drumroll....................................................

1. 2001 Pontiac Aztek: Drive one and you quickly realize that the Aztek's exterior design is its best feature. It's the very worst car of all time because it's the only car on the list to kill an 84-year-old car company. It's undeniable that the Aztek's utter hideousness drove the biggest and last nails into Pontiac's heavily side-clad, plastic coffin.

Well..here in Europe we have our own European autobrands;
the worst, oilleaking, oilburning,non-reliable cars in Europe are the french cars;
Peugeot, Citroën, Renault. They are very very unreliable, are known for their oilleaks ( if they are new in the showroom ) and they will never last for more than 150.000 miles.

Funny you should mention the Pontiac Aztec. Without a doubt the ugliest vehicle ever to grace a public thoroughfare, having never owned or driven one I cannot attest to the build quality.

What's ironic is that lately I've been seeing a lot of these things on the road and all of them seem to be in like new condition. I find it extremely hard to believe that people would squirrel these things away in anticipation of it someday being a classic but then again, there's no accounting for taste.

:eek:dont forget the LeCar and Capri

Funny that the 53 and 75 Vettes made the list but not the 83? A car so crappy that they scraped the whole model year.
Had 2 GM X-bodies. As ugly as the K-car with 3 times the problems.
Drove the 78 Chevy C/K diesel while working the shale mines in the early 80"s. What a waste of metal.

70's and early 80's will goe down in auto history as the dark ages due to all the junk the Big 3 peddled out. All due to the oil crisis and pollution control they set in place.

I laughed my *** off when a guy in my unit bought one and told me it had a 4 cylinder in it.
1982 Chevrolet Camaro Sport Coupe: The base third-generation Camaro was powered by the 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four rated at 90 hp. That's 90, thrashing, noisy, crude horses — total — in a Camaro.

I owned a 76 Aspen back in the mid 80's. Used it as a winter beater.
Blue with a white top and white interior, slant six with a manual 3 speed on the floor. Prone to rust, yes. A fun little car to putt around in, yes.

I am not disagreeing that the late 70's and early 80's were no doubt troubling in the auto world...but my family had a gorgeous 1978 Chrysler Cordoba...blood red on red 400 bb fully loaded 2 door...was a very nice ride even after i got my license years later and didn't look bad in my opinion...classy and powerful compared to a ford fairmont or chevy caprice....now ya the aztec is awful and the dealers here are literally giving them away for push pull or drag trades...no credit check required here at the local dealer...and I still won't own one ;) but the poor family with a near dead corolla can't beat that kind of deal. ugliest cars in my opinion were those little datsun's of the mid 70's....saw one break in half and swore i'd never try to hot rod one:toothy11:

AMC Pacer,also the Gremblin, Hornet.

Being in the auto repair biz made it a love/hate relationship with those cars:grin:

I'll start the list off with a Toyota Prius then fill in the rest from some suggestions above!

yep

AMC Pacer,also the Gremblin, Hornet.

Matador & Marlin can be added to that ugly car list, I actually kind of like the Gremlin but I'm a little twisted...LOL... Edsel anyone

Anything French

Almost anything that was French were butt ugly & pieces of crap especially in the 70-late to late 90's

Yep "electric Toasters on wheels" Camary's are butt ugly too. in my eyes..

Gremilins were available with a 304 V8 and that is the same block dimensions as a 401. They are light and can be a real sleeper with a 401.

I'd have to add the HHR and the cube to the most ugly list.

Don't forget the SSR...I see it made the list. Helped my dad work on our neighbors and what an ugly looking thing, rough ride and like I told him you build a hot rod, not buy one.
Btw the Gremlins are cool in my opinion. Like 696pack said they can be real sleepers. I'd own one, it is a mopar :D
