Any good info on decoding 14" wheels? I've seen many variations but how do you tell the difference between years, widths, makes (chrysler/ford/chevy)? Etc... pics would help also. Thanks.

Good topic. I have GM wheels figured out and there seems to be good info, Mopar wheels not so much.

I was looking, and found, 14x5 1/2" JJ wheels for our '67 R/T. I glass beaded one wheel so far and there's really nothing other than the size and that JJ code, this is inside and covered up when mounted. By the valve stem I expected to see some dates or codes but there's nothing really there. IIRC it was like an 'S' on either side of the stem.

Here's a photo of an original 67 R/T spare with original tire.

I am looking for these wheels for my 67 GTX convertible. I am finding it harder to find the wheels than the wheel covers. I have mint Plymouth mag style wheel covers, Just need correct wheels.

How does one decipher the year stamping? If a wheel is stamped M36... I assume it's a 1976. Maybe a 66?

Or stamped M39... how do you tell if it's a 69 or 79?

Is there an order that was followed? It wouldn't make sense that a M33 & M34 is a 73 & 74... but an M39 would go back to 69?

Can anyone clarify this?

Thanks.

I can see a 5 and a 9. Maybe an M. I think it's the original steel wheel spare from the 69 Coronet R/T.
