Hi all

Been looking at what sizes are available for redline radials, for a 15x7 wheel.

We'll probably go for something like 215/70x15 on the front, and something a bit wider for the rear.

Summit only appear to go up to 235 wide in a 70 series (BFG/Silvertown), and Coker seem to do other brands but none wider that that BFG tire.

Does anyone know of another manufacturer or supplier that goes up to, say, 245 or 255 in a redline?

Grateful for any help :icon_thumleft:

My buddy has 275/60 15s on the back of his GTO so yes, somebody does make em. Sorry, I can't remember where he got em from, but I'll ask him and put it up here. Not a lot of help, but at least you know you're not chasing unicorns....they're out there.

Thanks Jon, I'd forgotten about them. Hadnt realised they did the 'stick-on' redlines & whitewalls tho. Or at least i hadnt looked into it that closely before.

Have you looked at your buddy's tires to see if the redline looks like it will last a long time? I have heard of other companies doing this but I always thought it sounded a bit like the cheap option and that they'd end up peeling off after time?
But I'm sure there are some that are good at this and some that arent...

Hmmm...I've looked at them up close but never realized they were "stick-on". The red stripe isn't recessed into the sidewall (now that I think about it) like you would expect from a tire designed and manufactured from the beginning to have a stripe like that, but I don't think it would be noticeable unless someone was looking for a nit to pick. The car is still under construction (a huge step from a yr ago when it was still under DEstruction) so they're mounted but haven't been on the road yet, so as to longevity id have to say I don't know. I tried to get him to put em on his Chevelle so we could go burn the nubbies off, but then we got into the beer so it was a no-go on that little adventure.
I'm casually looking for an A body these days and I plan on using them, so they look good enough to me to say that.

Coker Tire, Chattanooga, Tn. Has most popular sizes in stock. Good people.

Thanks again for the replies chaps. It's been a bit more invoved than I'd hoped, choosing tires, though I did know to expect some problems. Thanks to the beaurocrats somewhere over here in Europe, it's not as straight forward as you might think, importing tires to the UK. Or other European countries too, presumably. :BangHead:

Nowadays you can get a heavy fine if you import a tire that doesnt comply with some EU regulation or other (somethng to do with what oil is used in the compound?), but thankfully, BFG (& American Classic that I'm after for the Polara) do comply, so we shouldnt have any trouble. Famous last words....

So I think we'll play it safe and stick with the 215/70 & 235/70 BFG redlines.

BTW Jon, my 'stick-on' comment was a bit below the belt really, I know they do 'vulcanise' them properly so should be on there long enough to last the life of the tire. But bearing in mind what we have to consider (as mentioned above) I think getting a tire that may have had some of its sidewall markings removed to make way for a 'stick-on' :icon_wink: stripe might be asking for trouble if some jobsworth this end decides to check if they have all the right markings :icon_hang:
